Ok First timer question here Here's a little backround quickly We were blessed enough to buy our own home this past September and it was actually only around the corner from the house we were living in at the time....Well I had Miney on her leash going for a walk and she saw a stray dog looks to be some sort of poodle around her size...the growl a bit and we keep walking...well the little "GUY" as I find out later runs up near us and Miney tries to chase him....SHE PULLS RIGHT OUT OF HER COLLAR....and yes she was in heat at the time. I go running in my slippers and loose them through a yard so I run in to get my shoes. I start looking around the house and yelling hoping she will come back and then I hear her crying a little in the back yard....OMG there they were..."stuck" That was October 5....I had never seen anything like this in person I was in shock..So needless to say my miney will be a momma soon she's on her 56th day from what I gather. Well here is my question...sorry if it's silly to you all Last night when I picked up my girl to carry her to bed I noticed a wet spot on my s**t....but I really just blew that off until this morning... After Miney went outside she wanted to sit on my lap so I picked her up for a few to pet her....Well after I put her down I see ALOT of clear slimy discharge on my pants where she was sitting.....Does this mean that her time is Very near? OR is this just a normal thing. I wish that I could say I would call the vet to ask, but I really hate to call them unless I must... because we had a not so good experience there ...BUT I will call if need be...in the future no matter what. I can't find the thermometer anywhere so I will be buying one while I am out this morning for sure. I'm sorry if I am rambling....I havent really noticed any of the othe5 symptoms that I have been reading about...but in no way will I say I have retained everything I read recently  I was not around her for several hours yesterday to watch her and I have to leave the house for about 3 hours today.....I have no one to watch her OMG this is making more nervous than I ever thought it would... |
yes, time may be getting near :) My Zoey had the discharge a couple days before. Go buy a 'digital" thermoniter. When her temps drops down to around 98 and stays there 12 or more hours she's ready. Take her temp morning and night and recored it. Good luck!!!! |
They can have some discharge a few days before delivering. My Autumn had a clear discharge for almost a week before she went into labor, but just like for women, it can be different for each dog. I liken it to when a woman loses her mucuos plug before giving birth. Go get a thermometer while you are out and take her temp. I would be checking it everyday morning and evening from now on if I were you. Do you have a whelping box ready for her yet? There are some really wonderful experienced breeders on here that I am sure will help you when they see your post. Good luck with the new puppies! |
Good luck with your new babies. My dogs have all had some sort of discharge a day or two before whelping. pay very close attention to the discharge. If it gets stinky , that isn't normal. Also just a tip: My little dogs slip their collars too. I never put them on mine unless we go to the vet because I have a huge fenced yard for them to walk in. But one day I took Silk to the vet with her little collar and leash on. i sat her down beside the car to walk into thee vet. the vet was outside and pointed to something behind me. there she sat, looking guilty as all get out and m five foot in front with the empty collar and leash in my hand. Good thing for me she didn't run into the traffic. Soooo, a harness will be much better for your little one. Some of the people here sell the cutest ones in their online stores. |

Ha ha too funny! I missed it too and read it as "shirt". :) |
Thanks Everyone :) :D :D :D :D :D Ok that typo was halarious lol lol I took her with me this morning I couldn't bear to leave her home alone....so we bought a thermometer on the way home...Temp is 100.2 as of now.not much more discharge since earlier...she's jut been sleeping and whimpering a little. Yes whelping box is ready and she has been going to it off and on each day....I have almost everything put together on the list that I copied from a thread on here...and I have decided to see if I can just get her to have the pups in the dining room because it has doors and I can keep her down here to be watched and helped during the day. Def getting a harness for my girl as soon as she starts getting back to her normal size. |
I've seen clear discharge for up to a week prior to delivery. The calendar and temperature are better measures. Actions like refusing to eat and diarrhea that morning, progressing to constant vulva licking and digging are all shown in mine at the very last stage. |

Well good luck with it and we will be praying for a smooth delivery and no complications! |
Curious, did you mean the x-ray would be $800.00 or an emergency C-section starting point? If it's the x-ray then you better find a new vet because I don't even want to think of what the C-section charges would be. Normal x-ray fees should be from $75 to $150.00 and they can actually save money in the long run because if they see that the puppies are too big and she can't deliver naturally you can have a scheduled C-section, which is a lot cheaper and less risks than one at 2 in the morning at an ER clinic. By the way how much does she weigh? |

*Different subject** uuuuuuuuuggggg I really need to find another job and soon....I feel like that was such a waste of time and money the first time I took her to the vet.....They weren't very pleasent to me but nice to hermionie. They barely touched her actually come to think of it  I never wanted to take her there at all, but the only other vet in town was booked up until Dec4 and by then I felt would be too late if in fact there may be something wrong with her. I pray to the doggy Gods that I do not have to deal with these people on an emergency situtaion,... |

At approx. 10 pounds your chances for a natural delivery are good, unless the father (or the Mom's or Dad's background) is a lot bigger, but you still could only have one puppy and since they have so much room to grow in utero they do. Of course, just because the puppies are small enough for the Mom to deliver you can run into other problems like not strong enough contractions that won't show up until the time of delivery. Best wishes for a healthy easy delivery for both of you. Keep us updated. P.S. An x-ray, not a ultrasound would be appropriate at this time, if you decide to go foward with one. |

Ok Got it...This info is very helpful to me thanks |
Oh, and do call some ER clinics and regular vets (some have ER services) to check some prices, they can vary tremendously from office to office. Also, I will add that I have found that lower prices do not mean less quality of services. In fact, my experience has been just the opposite because those vets that don't "rip you off" seem to be more concerned with the dog's health and not the money. |

Just cheking in ...Temp is 99.9 for the evening ...She's just resting...Her breathing is still a little fast it seems...I know she's not panting she's just breathing a little faster than normal. WOW I can't get over how much she is sleeping... PS I have to put a special thank you out to JULZ (julie) thank you so much for calling me and bringing me up to date on all the things I needed and wanted to know. |
my gal ate like a little pig thee morning she whelped. I went to the room where the whelping box is to take her temp fifteen minutes after breakfast and saw this bulge hanging out her backside.. I yelled for my hubby and we had puppies!!!!!!!! |
