| Great....our furnice isn't working! We're renovating a 130 yr old home - this is a new furnace that for some reason is not working tonight! So, if Hershey goes into labour tonight - what do I do? Will space heaters be enough to make it through the night? |

| I was up all night with her, but nothing yet. She was very restless last night and continually wanted outside to eat grass. She threw up this morning. Her temp is everywhere - it was low - 98 for about a day - last night it went up to 100. Should I assume when it drops again - labour will begin soon? I don't know, she's confusing me. All she's doing now is lying down - no panting - no nesting. She isn't eating much - but then again - she's a very picky eater. They came this morning and fixed the furnace - thank-goodness - it was 1 degree celcius last night! We found some space heaters - so we did have a back up plan if the whelping occured last night. Can anyone shed light on her condition/behaviour? I suppose it's so hard, as they are all so different. I just feel confined - can I go out grocery shopping for a bit? I feel bad leaving her. |

| My personal opinion is that she will be fine for you to go get some groceries. If her temp drops again, she's probably going to go. I'm not an expert by any means though! The day that mine went, they completely quit eating. Wouldn't even take their treats. And they nested non stop. Every dog is different though! Good luck with her!

| You can essentially drive yourself crazy taking the temp. Even when it is the right temp, it will be a little while before the pups come. I would say you definetly have time to run to the store. Once the labor actually starts is when you will have to watch closely for signs of trouble. Remember, any dark discharge before having the first pup is a warning to get her to the vet asap. She needs to be a a darker calm area with no stress and no breeze. Once your pups come, remember that they do not produce body warmth for the first 3 days. Make sure they do not catch a chill. While I am waiting, I like to go to Google and find helpful whelping websites that I have already read over and over and over. There really is a ton of wonderful info out there in cyberspace. |

| Thank-you for your advice! I've been doing a lot of reading every night - I'm ready - she just doesn't seem to be! We have a very warm room in the house (that is when the furnace works...ha), so the pups will be fine there. I guess it's just a waiting game now. I'll keep you posted and thanks for your help and advice |

| my muffie didnt nest before having her babies but she did hide under the sofa but she likes to go under the sofa. she acted normal the day she went into labor. my neighbor came over to see muffie and she pulled her out from under the sofa when she noticed a black ball hanging out of her. thats when we knew she was having puppies. i quess i would have to say they all act differently. good luck to you. and if you have to go somewhere, go just leave her in a room w the door shut and the whelping box in there. believe me, this is nature and these dogs know exactly what to do.

Please don't let that scare you...but it does help to know to watch for even "lack of" signs. Another thing....don't check on her constantly. Try and let some hours go by in between. It will seem like torture to you if you are like me. I truly hope all goes well and NATURALLY. | |

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | I'd say definitely tonight. Some bitches will vomit the day of delivery. Mine doesn't but I've heard of others doing that.

| I think it'll be tonight - I'm sure she'll wait for the wee hours of the morning! Her temp has been consistently 97-98 today. She's just lying in her whelping pen sleeping. |
