My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Breeders: at what age do you give your new pups shots? I've heard different ages. Mine are 8 weeks. I was thinking of making an appointment for Friday? (Sunday they would be 9 weeks) |

| Not before 8 weeks. And as soon as possible after that date. Before 8 weeks their system is not ready with antibodies. And after that you need to protect them against parvo. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Well, my friend and grromer gave mine for me this week. (just over 8 weeks) I had posted in another thread that all my vet gives is the one with lepto and wouldn't do anyother kind (or so thats what his rude help said) So I cancelled my appointment ! I still didn't get Tia Maries done though. (she's my cleft pallate baby I've been nursing) She's weighing in at 14 oz. Her brother is 2.6 oz. When do you all think I should get hers? Right now there just isn't any meat on her. |

Oh wow, you're going to need to hold off on Tia Marie's for a while. I would keep in good communication with your vet on her status as far as vaccinating. But I personally wouldn't do it any time soon. (I know you meant "lb" on her bro, not oz, lol) So Tia is actually 14 oz? What a tiny little angel she must be. I hope she thrives! Best wishes, | |

| I hold off until at least 8 weeks and then follow at 12weeks and recommend new owners to do it once more at 16 weeks and to hold off on the rabies until at least 6 months. I don't ever give Lepto, Corona or Bordatello. Vaccinations should only be given to 100% healthy dogs, so if Tia doesn't have "any meat on her" I would not say she is a candidate for any vaccine. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Any restrictions that Tia should have without having the vaccine? |

| I would keep her as isolated as possible, fatten her up and get the 5 way vaccine, (no lepto, no corona) as soon as possible. Probably best to let a vet determine if she is healthy, maybe just being thin doesn't mean she isn't healthy. |

| Yeah, I remember. Don't think a cleft palate would be considered to be unhealthy, but things as simple as allergies (auto immune disorder) and parasites are. I hate to see owners with dogs that have allergies continue to get vaccinations - since they don't have a healthy immune system the vaccine most likely does no good and only harm. |
