| Oh WIllow, I am so so sorry to hear about Scooter. You had posted a few days about Scooter on Breny and TIa's thread about him........I responded but I didnt see a post back so I was sad he probably didnt make it because there was no further post.........I was getting ready to private message you to see if he made it. (Im Jokers mom another cleft baby I have been raising) Then I saw this thread, I dont know how Ive missed it. I was so very excited because as I read it I saw he was doing better. Then at the end I see he didnt. Im truly so sorry. Im sure you did everything you could do. See I had 4 cleft babies in a short period of time thru a few months. THe only thing different I did was give antibiotics every other day. Out of those 4 cleft babies only one made it, and that was Joker. They are extremely fragile and difficult to raise. There was just nothing you could do. Bless your heart for trying..........God bless lil angle Scooter. Hugs to you.......I really understand. The very ironic way I found this thread is my updating on a post about using revolution on pregnant girls. Then I saw this thread, which I cant beleive I have been missing. The revolution thread is up on the breedings talk section. All those cleft puppies came during the use of revolution when I never had a cleft before. The medical insert and vets say its okay to use during pregnancy. That Im sure is baloney now. Ill never use chemicals on my girls again during pregnancy. I dont care what the studies say about the med. So if you never had problems before until a treatment of flea med, I would say its positively exposure and not the genetics in the least. |

| We believe it was the flea treatment the vets assistant told us to use on Autumn. She never had any cleft babies in her last litter and they did well. I also know Autumn's parents never had a cleft baby and neither were there clefts on the fathers side. I am just sure it was the flea crap.

| Omg Willow !!! I am so very sorry for you sweetie!!! I really thought all would be well. I do believe it was the flea meds. When Baby was 9 months my vet had me put k9 advantix on her and within 6 hours she had a seizure. I had to bathe her twice and take her in for an evaluation. All tests were normal vet decided it was the flea medication. We waited until she was 18 months and switched to just plain frontline and only a half a tube every 3 months. She's now 3 years and she has never had a seizure again. I don't use frontline often only if we have a terrible outbreak. I have been pretty lucky. I can't imagine the pain you are in. Please accept my sympathy!!

| I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your little Scooter. I was reading down through the posts and when you mentioned how you couldn't see his ribs any more .... I knew it gave you such hope. However, my heart fell a little because that is what happened right before one of my Mom's pups passed. It was actually more of a "bloating" though it did make the pup look not so skinny and it gave her hope too. You did such an awsome job with this little guy. I know it must hurt terribly. How wonderful for Scooter that he had so much love and wonderful care while he was here. My heart goes out to you. |
