| Pups eyes aren't open yet.... The pups are 13 days old, and none of them have opened their eyes yet. The Vet said I should take a gauze pad and warm water, and gently clean and try to open their eyes. Before I do that, I wanted to check here and see what experiences you guys have had and get your opinions with this. Thanks Audrey |

| wait a couple more days they'll open unless you see some goo or discharge (like a crust) around the eyes. A bit of warm water on a cotton ball will sometimes help, but mother nature will usually take care of it for you.

| I would wash their eyes with the gauze or cotton ball and warm water, but I would not try to physically open their eyes, just gently wipe. |

| Do not try and pry these eyes open , there is a reason they are sealed shut to protect them. They will open when they are ready. I did hear of a woman trying to open her puppies eyes early and the puppies ended up blind. Your vet is wrong do not try and open the eyes. It is not uncommon for yorkies to not open their eyes for at least 14 to 17 days so you still have time. Other breeds do open sooner but our special kids take a bit longer. |

| Stitches removed? Hi! Good discussion about the little guys and how long it takes for them to open their eyes - our last litter it was about 17 days - it seemed like forever! I was suprisedby a phrase in your post: "going to get the stitches removed"... When I get the puppies tails docked they use a stitch that melts away and on the dewclaws they use a little special glue... Would you mind sharing the info on the stitches? Thanks, just curious... God Bless, Susan |

| When I have a litter I wash there eyes around the 12th day with warm water BUT I don't try to open them I let them open on there on. I take the stitches out myself of the dock tail my vet showed me how, hope this helps. |

My Vet put 1 to 2 stitches in each pups tails, and used the glue on the paw. After 10 days we went back to get the stitches removed from the tail. Audrey | |
