| Do you think we can move Mom and pups? Right now Princess and her pups are in the walk in shower. There is one very little air vent in there, and Princess always loved to sleep in there, so we thought it was a good spot for her and the pups. When can we move them from the shower to another area of the house. Laundry room, or corner of a room away from vents? We would like to be able to use the shower. Is it better to just move them when we want to use it and then put them back in there later, or just keep them in another area and don't disturb them? Princess just always loved being in there at night and that is where she began nesting, so we just put the box with pups in there too. ETA: they were born 06/24 Thanks, Audrey |

My furkids Donating Member | My breeder has her pups, and Mom in a crate..this way the puppies can't escape! One of hers did! IMO...I would move them to where they would be out of harms way and leave them there....You probably don't want to keep moving them....Mom might not like this...and if she is in a crate she CAN'T move them out.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | We use an x-pen. They are fairly large and you can put a whelping box, food/water dishes, and pee pads for mom. When you leave, put a sheet (clothes pinned down) over the top to keep mom from attempting to jump out.

| Do you let the Mom out? Or does she stay in there with the pups all the time? We were thinking of getting one of those big plastic shell pools. That way Princess can get in and out, but the pups stay in. At what age can I move them into there? I was thinking about another week or so. When they can actually get out of the box they are in now. |

| ex-pen is the way to go We have hardwood floors, so we purchased a piece of vinyl larger than and expen so if potty escapes it wont hurt the floor, then put the expen, peepad, food and water dishes and we have a under-the-bed storage container, minus the lid, with full size towel folded up inside for the pups and mom to sleep in. Mom can get out easily and pups dont really get out of container until about 5- 6 weeks when they can crawl over the edge. Then that is about the right time for them to start eating dog food and drinking to get weaned. Mom likes to have a little time away on her own bed, but still in the expen and keep an eye on her pups. Works wonderful!!

The pools are nice for when pups are older...but pups this age can crawl around from the rest of the group...getting lost in blankets, etc.
