| female in heat I recently purchased a female to breed with my male. The vet says she is in heat b/c she appears swollen. However, there has been no signs of blood. What should i watch for to know when her time to breed is? |

| I've been lucky in the sense that my Emilee is very, very clean. I usually don't notice much blood except maybe a little on a pee pad, or very little where she sleeps. She keeps herself clean. She does get very swollen and my Joey always lets me know when Emilee is in heat. One way to tell is, if she lays on your lap a lot, keep a white tissue handy. Just wipe a little and you may see blood, I've been lucky that Emilee keeps herself so clean.

| Just FYI I think they say the ideal age to breed your female is when they are roughly 2 yrs old...maybe check other threads on breeding age. I am not sure if you were planning to breed her this season anyhow. Just putting my 2 cents in. Hey good luck! Keep us posted. ALso we want pics of your furbabies! he hee

| i guess you know by now that you shouldn't breed her on her first cycle. Let her grow and mature then breed her on her second or even third cycle. Good luck. |
