Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | NOT a REVIEW but a WARNING I thought I would post this HERE because it's becoming a huge new enterprise for those making money off the sales of puppies. It's become a BIG Business. IF someone is looking to buy a new puppy - and especially in states close to the Mexican Border - BEWARE. Puppies are now being smuggled into the States ...being sold Cheap - and more often than not - are sick. Anyone New to purchasing a dog should always research. These poor smuggled dogs are being sold in Flea Markets - Pet Stores and just out there on the street. Even scarier - now they are also being shipped all around the country. When someone wants to buy a puppy - DO YOUR RESEARCH ! Many times - you can prevent your heart from being broken if you do - A really LOW price for a puppy doesn't mean you get a healthy dog. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Thanks...but it's SCARY isn't it ? Being in Texas it's huge. The flea markets are full of these poor puppies. Parvo is a big big problem and I just wanted to do a post saying - THINK before you buy - these are CUTE CUTE dogs & hard to resist. It's so sad they are being smuggled when we already had a population problem in the states.....but they are getting NO MEDICAL attention and often die within days of purchase....2 people I know fell for the Quick Buy at the Flea Market - both their dogs died. Same goes for the vendors selling Puppies on the side of the road - don't do it !! |

| Interesting Vee - my TV station just did a big news story about this and you are so right. The other part that made me sick was how they were smuggling them in....

| I agree! Really, folks, DO YOUR RESEARCH!! I also strongly feel that if you want a yorkie bad enough, you can FIND one within 50 miles of your house! There is NO REAL REASON you should have to go to a website of an unknown "breeder" and purchase an overpriced pup to be shipped to you. Just because you are paying a LOT of money does not guarantee that you are getting the BEST dog! That being said, I am also sure that there are great and reputable breeders on YT that ARE miles away from you that will ship a wonderful, gorgeous pup to you at a reasonable cost. I just don't want any of you to get ripped off by nasty strangers like Villette is talking about. Take personal responsibility to CHECK EVERYTHING FIRST. Do not be hasty. If you are, and things go wrong, yes you can blame the "breeder or broker", but when you are passing out the blame, you may want to pause and look in the mirror too...JMHO

People will go to great lengths and a lot of money to get puppies from some scammer thousands of miles away, and not even consider a breeder in their own state. Is it because they want one NOW and these brokers always have some available? I realize that these people are are totally nieve and innocent as to the scams that are out there, but why do they go so far out of their state for a puppy, and pay such exhorbatant prices for a pet. |

We get VERY hot in the early months of spring and I can't even imagine being in a hot car or truck - let alone hidden in a part of the vehical. I'm so glad they're cracking down on it - but it's SUCH a big business - you just know people are being bribed to let them smuggle these poor puppies.

YOU MAY WANT TO PAUSE AND LOOK IN THE MIRROR TOO - and stop blaming everyone else for not taking the time to study, read, question etc. when you are buying a living creature. I see the same thing going on with breeding - the questions are asked after the fact. IMHO.

| Great Post V-- we all need to not let our hearts and emotions over rule our brains at times like this even though a little puppy is at stake. We would all like to save them all. |

The more $$ smugglers make - the more people will jump in and go for the easy buck until we have a totally out of control problem in this country. Its bad enough our shelters are full....but to bring innocent puppies from one country to another because AMERICANS are impulse buyers... is just sad. But saddest for these puppies. None of those smugglers give a hoot about them so they come to this country sick and most likely....to die....and that's only IF they make it across the border in those hot vehicles.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | You know, we have one grooming shop here in town that use to get her yorks from a local breeder (met the breeder a couple of times). Anyway, now, this grooming shop is selling yorkies for $550 and teacups for $650. With prices that cheap, I wonder if she's getting smuggled dogs now.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | WOW. Have you seen these puppies ? I can see a breeder selling for that price... but not a broker unless they're buying VERY VERY Cheap I mean ....look at that price - the so-called Breeder has to make money - then the broker/middleman adds on their share - so how can they sell that cheap in a grooming shop ? I would wonder too. |
