They are both beautiful! Quote:
Well...you did a good job...they are both beautiful! I get so confused here on Yorkietalk in terms of standard...they all look different! God knows what I'm supposed to be looking for when I do start my "puppy hunt". I can't exactly give a list to a breeder...(oh..and yes...I like the "cobby body type"..and silky coat...and oh I forgot...4 - 5- pounds and let me not forget...A really cute face...with upright ears...the Breeder will throw me out of her house!)..hahaha. Wendy, every single yorkie out there has something cute on them, no matter if they have a long/short snout or if they fat or thin, short or long hair, long or short legs, 1lbs or 10lbs, a yorkie has inner beauty that can make almost every person melt!! Your yorkie is as precious as any other yorkie out there ;) she IS lovely!! |

I would recommend that you write down the looks you like and even save pictures of what you like because you will know it when you see it once you get used to looking at puppies. No breeders threw me out...in fsct they appreciated the fact that I knew what I was looking for and I had one try to change my mind because she really wanted to sell me one of hers, but I wasn't swayed and most even helped refer me to breeders they knew bred the look I was after which is how I found Ava. The good breeders don't want their babies going to someone who doesn't think they are "perfect" in their eyes. They are perfect for someone. You just have to wait for the right match. And Hefner is my "perfect" little boy because he was my first and I will always love him just as he is because he is my little baby boy!! |

Well...you really did your homework. It is hard though...there are so many cute ones on here. Just a question though...even if you know what you're looking for....isn't it hard to tell from seeing the puppy so young? They change so much. And just looking at the parents isn't that definitive...I mean, were dealing with genetics here. The puppy might not look anything like the parents! Francie |
Guess what! I have one of every kind! I have Pebs large with longer snoot and is 15 yr. Today I got some bad news about my Pebs but I'll have a biopsy done tomorrow. Laci Jane very square body 5lb dark colored with a teddy bear face. She comes from ALL Champs. Honey is a tiny and knock on wood healthy now that I have her and not some wacko that ONLY fed her dry to keep her tiny! She has a longer snoot and hair to die for. Terry Shumsky went bonkers over her when I presented her to Terry.God Bless her I do miss her. Then my monster child that eats me out of house and home and YES she can breath!!!! My Sweet Pea. She does hate kids and black men.LOL's Oh well.My gardner just laughs at her. SoCal your new baby is just beautiful and you give her kisses from her Auntie Teri in NJ. smooches!!!! |
Thanks Teri! I went and saw Pea's brother a couple of weeks ago. He is a doll and I love Tanya. I almost bought her little one but she was too young and I had to have Ava! Francie~ As far as being able to tell when a puppy is young what it might look like as an adult...you are right...there is no guarantee...it is a chance you take...BUT if the breeder is someone you can trust and she has friends who will stand behind what she says you can find one who has been breeding for the look you want and THEY can almost tell what a puppy will look like as an adult when the puppy is very young. It takes years and years and generations and generations so you won't get it with a new breeder..unless they have a mentor who also breeds for the same look and she used one of her mentor's stud dogs.... There are ways to improve your odds is all. No guarantee unless you buy an adult. You can also get really close and maybe only compromise on one or two charactierisitics. For example, I would have preferred a silky coat but I think Ava's coat will be cottony. That's oksy because the coat was not that important to me. It was mostly (good health is presumed) the personality, then the face, then the compact body and small ears. Anyway, you can get really close to your ideal puppy...it just takes time and lots of patience. :) |
2 Attachment(s) Yes you can see in most points what a puppy will look like when it is an adult. I didnt have any litter untill now, but I´ve seen very much puppies throuth the 8 years I´ve been showing and owning Yorkies and you really can see if a puppy will be really pretty or not. When the litter were my show girl comes from was born, we knew from the first moment all three are breath taking. And today two of that litter are German Junior Champion and we are looking forward to all upcoming events in the future. Here´s a picture of my little one when she was just three weeks old, and today(12 months). |
Thank you for your post. She is breath taking! At 3 weeks and at 12 months!! Thank you for sharing! :D |

go but I would think the overall confirmation and quality of gold and coat would be equally or more important. When you look at the standard, there is alot to consider. This is just me, but the two things I like most in a Yorkie is tiny ears and a silk coat and............they are both recessive genes. See why it is so hard to breed Yorkies. There are many Yorkies who have a Championship with a baby doll face because they had lots going for them. Hope this helps If you go to a show; the judge is the person to ask , after she has finished judging. |
