| Question about 2nd new mom/pups I have 2 females that recently had pups. One had 3 last Sunday, but we lost one. The other one had 6 yesterday. The one that had pups yesterday seemed like she was scared to death and didn't want anything to do with the first 2. She was yelping and digging at the kennel door trying to get away from them. She didn't even really clean them up. I waited a little while but when she didn't seem to take to them, I put them in with the other mom and pups that are a week old today. When she had her pups last Sunday, she took right to them and new exactly what to do. This is the first litter for both. The first momma took to the brand new pups just like they were her own. And the newest momma has taken pretty well to her other 4 pups. Still seems a little skittish, but is feeding them and keeping them close to her. Is that unusual for a new momma to act that way to her pups? I was afraid that she wouldn't take to any of them, but she seems to do well with the other 4. I started to move the other 2 back, but was afraid that that wouldn't work either since the other momma had taken to them. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I guess it really doesn't matter as long as the pups do well. Just was wondering .... |

| I have placed one pup with another mom, the mom took nicely to him as if it were own. I would leave the two you gave to the surrogate mom if theyre doing well, you might upset the other mom because of the different smells.

| I have never had to do this. But I would leave the puppies like they are now. The one has took them in as her own and by taking them away it will make her nerves and upset her. |
