Breeding Question I have a situation that maybe someone could help with. We adopted our Shuga in june 05, she's 2 1/2 yrs old. She was the pawn in a nasty divorce and was being neglected and mistreated by her previous owners. Anyway she is pure bread but we have not been able to secure her papers and neighter of her old owners are available to assist as they both left town. We are not interested in selling puppies but we would love for her to have a litter before we spay her. She is so sweet now that she knows only love from us, we adore her. I expect that not many folks with a papered purebread stud would want to breed with a dog that has no papers. In a case like ours what suggestion would anyone have. Bob

Thanks for the reply. It lets me know that guidence is available. I'm real new and uneducated on proper proceedure on YT. Feeling like I won't ever fit in or be accepted, but I'm not giving up yet. There are some long timers on YT that show little patience for newbies, and then there are many on YT that are eager to help us beginners. Thanks to you and those other eager helpers. I will take your advice and read read read. I may not have stated it properly in my post but I was also looking for advice and/or help in securing Shuga's papers. Bob

info Welcome...there are many blank areas, so it makes the question impossible to answer 100%. No, you will not get AKC papers without the orginial breeder being involved to provide information to AKC..AKC has no way of knowing who your dog is... The size, health, temperment, past history of your female is vital in making a future decision to breed her. You say she was neglected and abused..that does not make for a good breeding prospect. How was she fed as a growing adult? Her basic health could be borderline and breeding would open the door to a mountain of problems. You are certainly free to do as you choose. With knowlwedge and vet help, she may produce a litter of health pups..then again she may not..breeding with all the information available to the breeder is a big gamble..this is an even bigger risk. Please do not feel ignored..I never saw this post..and as a long time YT and breeder, please feel free to PM, email or call me anytime for any help I can give you. Pat Best wishes

I supose I must be, at least in my grandson's eyes. He told his first grade class he would bring "Bob the Builder" for show and tell cause HE was his GRANDPA. I dressed as closely as possible to the character and off I went to show and tell. It was fun and I think I pulled it off because several of the kids wrote me letters. My grandson was real proud of me and that was the best thing. Bob

There are far too many red flags for me to encourage a breeding for this little girl. I tell people "Never breed your female household pet!" It is too risky when you have so little info about her, her ancestors, their health history and so on. Just not worth the chance of losing her. Just wanting a dog to have a litter of puppies is not a good reason to breed. If you want to put the time into researching the health problems Yorkies are prone to; if you are educated about complications of pregnancy and delivery, then you can make an educated decision....You can research our archives to see some of the problems that we do not consider when we make a choice about breeding. In the long run each person will make their own decisions, but please make the best decision based on knowledge..
