| How long before .... Hello , I am new here . I have been owned by yorkies for 5 years. A few months ago My yorkie penny was bred . Anyway I have been searching everywhere. Can anyone here tell me how long it is before yorkie babies first open there eyes?? I have called my vet but he is gone on an emer. call right now. The pups are 2 weeks old today. There eyes look fine no puffiness or swelling or anything like that. Thanks for your help.

| Oh wow, I didn't even know that (course I've never seen a new Yorkie batch come out of the oven). Must be so cute to see them, and then finally they see you. |

| eyes It may depend on the breed..maybe a larger breed might open them earlier..never asked anyone. I do not ever remember "eyes" before 11 days..you have checked them for puffiness..you might get up tomorrow and have your babies looking at you..it is so cute. I think many species are born blind..all dogs and cats are I do know. |

| They are so cute. I am expecting my first litter in 2 weeks. How big did your female get? My girl started out at 6lb and is 8 now. Did you know how many she was going to have? I think I counted 4 on the pic. That is great most have 3 or less. I bred mine 3x so hopefully one took well. I think I will go for an ultrasound next week. Good luck |

| Penny started out at 4lbs. and she was 6lbs when she had the pups. The dad is 2 lbs. Now she is back down to 4lbs. Yes i knew what she was having. Because of pennys size she was seen by my vet every week. I knew there where 3 girls and one boy. She had 2 ultrasounds.Leave nonthing to chance.

| Thanks, I plan on getting the one next week and then a few days before she is due. My female is larger than yours but hopefully she will also lose her weight. It was hard to regulate to begin with. she is what I call a fast eater. I have to watch that no one gives her extras because she always acts like she hasn't been fed. Did you feed her puppy food before the pups were born? THere are many conflicting answers out there so I'm trying to find the best option. |

| See penny is a picky eatter. I have to cook for her . She will not eat dog food of any kind. She would die first! Really. I tried everything science diet, Iams, purina, even the cheap stuff. She will eat can dog food but that stuff stinks BAD!! And gave her the runs all the time! So what i do is give her mostly chicken ,rice , lamb, and cooked veggies and goats milk . And i still have trouble keeping weight on her. She is so hyper! But puppie food is what you should be feeding if your girl will eat it. I really wish penny would.
