Female Yorkies Heat...Please help!?!? Hello. I have a couple of questions in regards of my female yorkie and her heats/breeding. I am not sure if I will breed her, and I know all females are different, but any helpful and respectful comments/suggestions/ and estimates are appreciated. My questions are as followed. My yorkie won't be six months for another few weeks. However, there is another female in heat in the house, and now my yorkie female is mounting the male dog in the house. Could this trigger her coming into season earlier? I have heard females in heat could trigger other females to come into season. Any guesses?? Also, this is my first yorkie, so do any female yorkie owners find their females coming into season earlier (6months or less) or later (6months or more)? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks alot. New to this breed. I have done alot of research but like I said, situations vary with all dogs. I don't think my female is due anytime soon, but maybe this is trigger her to come into season. I don't know. I do know a lady who bred her yorkie at 8months. I do not agree with that. I will wait for 3 heats to pass before I decide. I might not breed her though. Undecided and thanks again! Anyone else have suggestions or comments?

My girls have come in to their first heat between 7-12 mos. I'ts seems others in heat can bring others in heat. Ok if that sentence made any sense Lol ! Be a little cautious about 2 female yorkies come into heat, mine like to fight! I don't know if any other YT breeders have this happen. But I've heard it's common in terriers. Hope this helps.

Hello. Yes I think all of the above is true, but my yorkie girl is too young. This is my concern. I do not have any other yorkies in heat. I have a Min Pin in heat. Just to clear that up. Well, I will definitely keep an eye out as best I can. Also, yorkie breeders always wait to atleast the 2nd or even 3rd heat before breeding, correct? This would make a female yorkie anywhere from a year to 2 years right? A woman who wanted to sell me a pup from her female, bred her on the yorkies first heat at only 8 months old. I am just very concerned and trying to look out for my pups best interest. Thanks! Last edited by PennyNLola; 02-02-2006 at 09:33 AM.

Roxie was about 5 mo on her first and Madie was 4. Sadie didn't have hers until she was 7, but she's a Shih-Tzu. Everything I've read says that they can have theirs some where between 4 mo and a year. Lol.
