| Question help please I am hoping that someone will help here i am worried to death...Will a female accept a male for mating when she is not in heat??? My next door neibor has a little male that comes over and plays with my Mia well while we were having coffee the two dogs were up to something else...She has shown no signs of being in heat at all

| Giggle... Some of them will tolerate a male trying his darndest even when they aren't in heat. Some will not have any part of it. I have a girl who will just stand there and let a male have his way with her when she isn't in heat . I discourage them doing this, but I have seen them "playing around" |

On a serious note, she did that and had problems conceving. After 4 breedings with 2 different males, and progestrone tests. I talked it over with my vet and decided it was better to spay her rather than run other tests to find the problem or breed and hope for something. So, she's spayed now, living the spoiled life. With a local family. She was my very first addition for breeding, talk about making a tough decision!

It's funny how some of them will be little "floosies" ha ha! I loved that word you used! On another note, I'd like to say to the original poster that you may want to consider having your girl spayed because one of these days she will be truly in heat and then "boom"! There's nothing in the world like a determined male. He'll get to her or die trying!!!!!

Your little one's a 1 yr? She'll do fine. Although she went to a slight depression, it was like home with the 5 boys around. Izzy turned 4 in November. The only way I was willing to part with her is if someone that bought from me before was interested. Ironically enough. A couple that had bought from me before called wanting a girl to add to their home of 5 boys..lolol neutered gentlemen might I add..It took me a while for them to pry her out of my hands. But looking back now, I have no regrets. You can see Izzy and her new family on my family/friends page Hopefully you'll find comfort in 'Izzy's Story Last edited by YorkieRini; 01-27-2006 at 02:30 PM.

| Thanks for the replies, I didn't think females would allow a male to mate with her unless she was in heat and of course i am thinking maybe she was and somehow i missed it . I truly haven't seen any signs at all, I don't plan to bred her myself the lady i got her from had tried for a year with no success .We do plan to have her spayed very soon! Thanks!!!
