| Short Tail at Birth? I just had a little girl and she has a short tail, unlike her brother and sister who were born before her. Is this normal??? I already checked and Kayla didn't bite it off, she was actually born like this...Help!

| Some breeds are born with short tails. But I dont think Yorkies are,I have never heard of any being born with an already short tail. They useually have to have them docked. would love to see pictures. Are you sure its not between her legs? |

| Yep I'm most positive that it's not between her legs because it was the tip of the tail I was looking at. Once she's fed and cleaned up I'll take a few pics and post them.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | well its not normal but it shouldn't be a problem IF that's the only thing that's wrong. Watch what mom does with her, if she pushes her away then there might be other things wrong with her as well. I hope not. good luck with teh rest of the whelping

| tail I would love to see her also...I wonder if it will be the correct length...no important, but I was thinking it would be possible to develop a Yorkie with a short tail from birth..no docking meeded..LOL I can not think of too many breeds born with a short tail..almost all are docked, whether a bob, or a short or long dock.. |

| It could just be a fluke. As long as she's healthy in every other way I wouldn't worry.

No Longer a Member | born without tail My Bbaby just had a litter 4 3 weeks and 2 days ago, She had 4 three females and one male, I watched her deliver all pups are healthy and momma does great, However one pup female we call tinybell is much smaller then the other three and born with a short tail, Right were the brown ends underneath the tail, is were the tail ends as if she were docked, We did dock the other three but no need for Tinker, I my self had not seen this before this litter but now know it can and does happen!!!! ill come back later and post updated photos and better ones of her tail. | In my 16 years of breeding yorkies I have only had one pup born with a short tail. She was perfectly healthy in every other way.
