| Mama won't eat My Yorkie delivered 3 puppies on Friday the 14th. The first one was still born. The others are fine. My problem is she won't eat anything and this is Tuesday the 17th. The vet put her on Clindamycin yesterday because she was feverish. This is her first litter and she is very stressed out about it. Otherwise she acts like she is fine. Any suggestions? I can't stand her not eating. |

| Have you tried some boiled chicken? You may need to contact your vet and ask them if she needs to come back in.

| You will probably have to hand feed her for a while. Find a good quality canned food and try to hand feed her. If she won't eat any kibble, try to grind up puppy kibble and mixed with canned and hand feed. If she absolutely won't eat you may need to mix canned with water and syringe feed....don't force it down her throat (she could aspirate) but just to get the food into her mouth and hopefully she will swallow it on her own. Another thing I do with my moms is I take a tablespoon ebsilac (puppy formula) and mix with 1/4 cup warm water in a small bowl and offer that to mom once in the morning and once in the evening. They usually lap it all up quickly....provides calories, nutrients, and calcium and helps keep mom hydrated.
