| ![]() You asked if anyone had been through this so here goes. Years ago when I was young and yes very unlearned we had a tiny beagle who got pregnant her first heat. The horrible fact is she bled out having the pups before we could get her to the vet. THIS is what you are risking. We not only lost the pups but mommy as well. It was a horrible thing to go through but it taught me a lesson I have never forgotten.

| ![]() I have been breeding Yorkies for many years. Before I bred each of my females, I always asked myself one question...."Is my momma's life worth this litter?"..... Since you are a breeder, and are not asking for opinion regarding the issue of possibly loosing your female, especially going into this knowing full well that Yorkies are prone to delivery issues and she is a maiden, and since you have decided the lives of these unborn babies are worth the possibility for loosing your momma over, I will wish you good luck with your outcome....hopefully, all will be well....everyone will survive, and the babies will have no genetic issues they will spend a lifetime suffering from. All my ladies and gentlemen were retired multi championed show dogs, that cost me well in excess of 3-5,000.00 each. That price bought me fabulous dogs, from strong lines that had been bred over 30-40 generations....my pattern was set in stone so to speak...no guessing game or no shooting match happening.....no "just hoping" for acceptable outcomes....the cards were more than well balanced in my favor.....which assured me as much as can possibly be assured when dealing with Nature and God, wonderful outcomes. Still, with each breeding, you know you are possibly sacrificing the life of that momma as well as the lives of those babies......you place your bets, you takes your chances.....you have an enormous amount to loose. Personally speaking for myself only, that is NOT a gamble I ever took lightly or nonchalantly, nor was I EVER willing to intentionally sacrifice the life of any of my ladies, just because she was already "pregnant".....I controlled the breeding, I controlled the outcome, and if it ever looked like my momma was in danger, she was not bred.....if the pregnancy was not proceeding well, the pregnancy was aborted...I would have had NO qualms of aborting a pregnancy in any of my females if ultrasound showed malformations or deformities (thank God that was only an issue once)....I was responsible for the pregnancy having taken place, I was responsible for any outcome, and I just never would have sacrificed the possibility of any one of my precious ladies just to get a litter of babies, regardless of how well bred my dogs were or how much $$$$ I could possibly get for each baby. My ladies and their health come first and foremost....and NOTHING obliterates that. Good luck with your outcomes.....praying for momma, and especially the babies born of this breeding.
