Good point! and in the mist of all this "controlling law making" there is not protection for the pups that are a used or stolen - no teeth in those laws.

| YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thanks MagicGenie and Swan. Why buy a purebred dog? Here are some statements I hear a lot about purebreds. In no particular order. 1. So many dogs in shelters - adopt don't buy a dog. ummm many shelters charge for their *adoptions*. Albeit much less than from a responsible breeder. 2. Mutts or mixes are healthier. Maybe but there is a very recent study out that sheds some more accurate light on the situation. I posted the study on YT. 3. I don't want a show dog - just a pet or companion - why go to show breeders? 4. I can't afford a purebred dog. 5. The showring means nothing - it is just a beauty competition - why do I care if my puppy comes from Champions? 6/ AKC means nothing to me - I don't care if I have a registered purebred or not . Papers are not important to me. 7 All purebreds are horribly in bred. All of the above questions or statements need to be responded to - in an open and honest way.

| Here in the Northeast US we have a problem with shelters and rescues importing dogs from other regions, even other countries, to keep their facilities full. Some people even suspect some dogs now appearing in "rescue" were bred for that purpose. Then they lay guilt on would-be purchasers of pure bred dogs for buying from a breeder rather than "adopt" from rescue. Some of these "adoptions" are looking much more to me like purchases. I can see in this region show entries are down again this year and some clubs are talking about discontinuing their shows. Those of us devoted to pure bred dogs need to pull together over something, and soon.
