Here we have a "buyer" that appreciates and recognizes the love and concern we have for our babies and where they are going to spend the rest of their lives.....thank you for understanding! |
thank you Lisalaly and Lovetodream88 Your input keeps us breeders on the right track. There are many breeders out there who don't give a hoot where their puppies are beyond collecting the sales price. Please don't forget that there are still many of us out there who DO care deeply about the puppies we've sent out into the world. We've trusted you to tell us the truth about how you would care for the puppy. If things aren't going well, we want to know and help. We want to know how our puppies develop over time. I've been blessed that most people who have my pups do send updates, but I always wonder about those I don't hear from. As for the money part of all this, good breeders aren't trying to figure out how to make a profit, but we do expend a great deal of effort in trying to figure out how not to lose money. Few people have any clue what goes into this. |

Not asking questions and not asking certain things in my opinion would be a big red flag to me. |

And let's face it, life happens, and people's circumstances change. Nobody ever really knows anybody. You sell to someone who seems great and they hook up with a jackass. An older couple seem nice, but you don't know about the druggie daughter and her hellion kids who are going to move in with them two years down the road. I'm not one for jumping through hoops. If I have cash, want to buy and one breeder won't sell...so what...on to the next one. |

How you bring a pet store into the mix is beyond me...I don't follow your thinking. $$$ is power I wont buy anything at a store that sells pets, because I won't hand over a penny of my money to support such a place. I'm not one of those imbeciles that claims they dont support puppy mills but buy harnesses, toys, food and such.at a store that sells pets  Unfortunately, pets ARE property. i don't agree with it, but legally, they are. In my world you'd have to legally adopt a pet into your family just like you do a child, and be responsible for them for life. And just like with kids, if you chose to walk away and abandon your responsibilities, there are financial support consequences. You'd be obligated to support that pet for its life, your wages would be garnished, liens put on your property, and your tax refund taken. Maybe then, people would seriously stop and think before adding a pet to their family unit, instead of doing so with little thought. Maybe then people would view their pet as a living, thinking, feeling sentient being, not property to be disposed of on a whim. |

And, as to Taylor's comment about finding a reputable breeder to be difficult, it is. Walk in my shoes for a few years and then report back to me how you feel about breeding. I used to think differently than I do now...my experiences in rescue have opened my eyes and what I see is utterly disgusting. |

it is a subjective term. What you hold in high regard and have a good opinion of, I may not, and vice versa. When it comes to my money, your opinion means nothing. |

'I don't care what other people think of how I spend my money therefore I must support BYBs'. Its a completely invalid and erroneous sequence. Please! Get off your high horse! This is not the first time I have been subjected to implications &snarky comments by you about what a horrible breeder I must have bought from. |

I personally would not buy a dog from any breeder, but IF I wanted to, I can tell you there are an extremely small number of breeders I would consider and even them I am not totally sure of. Breeding can be an ugly business. |

Exactly! We all live in different homes, drive different cars, dress differently, work different jobs, raise children differently, celebrate & grieve differently, so why expect us all to seek identical things in a breeder? The perfect pup for your life, your family, your home...may not be so perfect elsewhere. |
