I'm somewhat confused after post #2.I'm not a breeder and have no plans to be,can I stiil ask questions under Breeder Talk,I find all of it fascinating with all the different expierences.:confused:

I have a Question?

I have a 2 year old "standard" Yorkie named Bella Donna Blue. She is CKC (?) papered and I have a copy of her pedigree. My question is this: My vet says that it would be wrong for me to breed her since she has one knee that sometimes "pops" out of place. It can be put right back into place and doesn't appear to cause her any pain. Bella weighs in at 6-7lbs. Should I breed her? If it is safe, where should I look to find a breeder?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

But, a quick answer to your question.....Did your vet evaluate the grade of LP? If it's greater that grade 1, I would suggest it shouldn't be done. Especially with a male that suffers from the same problem...you'd be asking for a great deal of trouble.

Apparently it is time to review again!

Not everyone starts out as a genius in breeding, perhaps if we could all remember that people have to start somewhere that might help. The negativity in this section is ridiculous.

If I were a new member and thinking about breeding I would be SICK with the replies I would get for asking a question. If you don't agree with someone asking a question b/c they are new do not respond. This is supposed to be a place to learn but who dares ask a new question with these kind of responses?

VERY WISE WORDS.....which I wish some would listen to, as I for one, spend all my time trying to undo all the damaging and blatently cruel remarks and judgements made on this section, and it is getting tedious, I must say.
Also I am fed up of people who seem lovely Yorkie people being scared off this forum, when I for one, would love to hear their experiences, whether I agree with them or not - they are all of interest to me, and we can all learn from the different ways of doing things !
The type of things that have been going on here lately is the sort of thing that starts wars in this world ! We should all try our best to be kind:D

I quit coming to Yorkie Talk simply *because* of some of the rude & attacking responses to new members. Some of us are new to Yorkies but not new to breeding. Some may be new to Yorkies and just wish to clarify if what a breeder is telling them is correct or not. Some may be quite experienced with Yorkies and breeding both.

As for the question of breeding fathers & daughters together, here is an answer that defines these various practices:

Line-bred puppies can come from two out-cross (non-line-bred) dogs that have a common ancestor. For example, if the bitch’s grandsire on her maternal side is the same dog as the sire’s grandsire on his paternal side, the pups will be line-bred on that common dog even though the bitch and dog are not themselves line-bred.

These are strictly definitions of the above methods of breeding, and I am not saying one method is any better or worse than the others, just defining them so they are less confusing for you. I thank those of you that are concerned about rude and hurtful remarks when posting to a thread. I have been breeding for 5 years, and when I asked a question a few weeks ago, a friend of mine (who has one of my babies) called me to say how mean some of the responses were. It's so sad to have those kind of people in the world, but they are. I am proud to say I am a yorkie breeder and that if I can help anyone, I will do it with a smile and a positive note!! 13 days till I have more puupies!!!

I need some advice please

My lil lady just went into her first season and I do not believe in breeding until the second or third depending on the size and health but this might not be the place to ask this but she has decided to act like a male dog and is found of a stuffed animal how do I stop her I have hid it from her because its my daughters favorite stuffed animal and because she will do it in front of everybody my vet laughed and told me to put it in a room so we didnt have to see it but she will drag it out
I am going crazy please any suggestions I plan on breeding her in a year or two.

Hi! I'm new to the site, and new to yorkies. I love my roxie and sasha - they are so adorable! Roxie is expecting, and I have no idea what to do to help her. She seems out of sorts as if she doesn't understand the changes in her body. I want her to be comfortable. I've never bred yorkies before or any other dog. I don't want to lose her if something happens during her pregnancy and I don't know what to do. I'd appreciate any ideas for my little girl!

Help!

Hi,
my yorkie just had her first litter of puppies. they are four healthy and beautiful puppies. my question is, are there any special foods i should be feeing the mother and if there are any dangerous signs that i should be looking out for in both the mommy and her babies.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.
