The Breeder Talk Section! Why It Is Here Hi everyone! I just wanted to post a reminder about why this section exists (or tell you for those that do not understand). It is for breeders (experienced and not) to share their experiences, learn from each other, help new members, and to have a place to talk about the lessons, joys, pain, heartache, and excitement of breeding yorkies! It is also for discussion on breeders and if you are not a breeder, you can also post questions for breeders here. Please be respectful. This is a place for questions and experiences and if you do not like the thread or the topic that has been asked/started do not respond. It is quite that simple. If you make a post that is off-topic it WILL be deleted. If you make a reply that is rude or a personal attack, you will be suspended and/or banned. The rules of Yorkietalk are just the same here, please remember them and if you have not reviewed them in awhile here is the link - Edited by admin to clarify [1/13/06] - |
I would really like to think that the breeder's section will be dominated by those who breed or who are in their learning stage before whelping their first litter. That isn't what I have witnessed lately however. I am in my learning stage and it becomes quite tedious to attempt to sift through posts and threads to find the good stuff. I really hope the true purpose of the forum can be found again! Thanks!!! |
Great thread, Kimberly! |
Sorry, but I am really confused. The top post is what I originally thought this thread was for. Then a post I was participating in that was under Breeder, Groomer, Vet review area was moved here and I was told this is the place to discuss breeders.http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...5&page=2&pp=15 see #22 So, where do we (the non-breeders) discuss breeders and the qualities we look for and appreciate? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25964 |
Thank you Admin for clarification. |
I'm new to YT but I came to see if I could help and be helped. I have been breeding toy dogs (off and on) for 24 yrs. I have plenty of experience but you can never have enough. The day you think you know it all is the day you need to hang it up! :animal36 |
I think it is time to review this again. Lately there have been a lot of harsh words, hateful replies, and unnecessary rudeness. Let's please remember why this section exists and what it is really for. If you feel strongly about a certain topic and/or person please refrain from posting anything until you think about it. The old saying "think before you speak" can easily be translated to "think before you type" Thank You~ |

Breeding I was talking with a lady today.. about yorkies, I am in the process of finding a yorkie.. She had mentioned that if you decide to breed your yorkie that you can breed a father and daughter together .. IS THIS TRUE... and still be AKC Registered? would there not be defects in the line of breeding.. I am asking cause i don't know.. I hadn't thought of Breeding but, My hubby is looking into possibly breeding. the one we may purchase. Please if anyone can steer me in the right direction of knowledge.. I would appreciate it.. I would hate to purchase one and find out that it was a father and daughter issue that could cause defects.. I was told that this is to make sure that the breed is pure.. sounds a little strange to me. But, like i said, i am new in this area.. Thanks |

thank you, thank you, thank you!!! No one ever wants to feel attacked becuase they are asking a question, thank you for reminding people that no question is stupid. Great Post!!!:animal-pa  |
I'm somewhat confused after post #2.I'm not a breeder and have no plans to be,can I stiil ask questions under Breeder Talk,I find all of it fascinating with all the different expierences. |
I have a Question? I have a 2 year old "standard" Yorkie named Bella Donna Blue. She is CKC (?) papered and I have a copy of her pedigree. My question is this: My vet says that it would be wrong for me to breed her since she has one knee that sometimes "pops" out of place. It can be put right back into place and doesn't appear to cause her any pain. Bella weighs in at 6-7lbs. Should I breed her? If it is safe, where should I look to find a breeder? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank-you very much! God Bless You All!! Kelly (Kelleen) Stone :) :aimeeyork :littleang |

But, a quick answer to your question.....Did your vet evaluate the grade of LP? If it's greater that grade 1, I would suggest it shouldn't be done. Especially with a male that suffers from the same problem...you'd be asking for a great deal of trouble. |
Apparently it is time to review again! Not everyone starts out as a genius in breeding, perhaps if we could all remember that people have to start somewhere that might help. The negativity in this section is ridiculous. If I were a new member and thinking about breeding I would be SICK with the replies I would get for asking a question. If you don't agree with someone asking a question b/c they are new do not respond. This is supposed to be a place to learn but who dares ask a new question with these kind of responses? |

THANKYOU !!!! VERY WISE WORDS.....which I wish some would listen to, as I for one, spend all my time trying to undo all the damaging and blatently cruel remarks and judgements made on this section, and it is getting tedious, I must say. Also I am fed up of people who seem lovely Yorkie people being scared off this forum, when I for one, would love to hear their experiences, whether I agree with them or not - they are all of interest to me, and we can all learn from the different ways of doing things ! The type of things that have been going on here lately is the sort of thing that starts wars in this world ! We should all try our best to be kind:D :animal-pa Debra, Scotland :) |
Looks like there is a few new members posting here on a sticky. I wonder why they just dont start another theard here in the breeders section. A well I guess we are all learning. lol |
Thank you wholeheartedly for this thread! Quote:
As for the question of breeding fathers & daughters together, here is an answer that defines these various practices: The answer is from this link: http://www.canismajor.com/dog/chos2brd.html Quote:

I thank those of you that are concerned about rude and hurtful remarks when posting to a thread. I have been breeding for 5 years, and when I asked a question a few weeks ago, a friend of mine (who has one of my babies) called me to say how mean some of the responses were. It's so sad to have those kind of people in the world, but they are. I am proud to say I am a yorkie breeder and that if I can help anyone, I will do it with a smile and a positive note!! 13 days till I have more puupies!!! |
I need some advice please My lil lady just went into her first season and I do not believe in breeding until the second or third depending on the size and health but this might not be the place to ask this but she has decided to act like a male dog and is found of a stuffed animal how do I stop her I have hid it from her because its my daughters favorite stuffed animal and because she will do it in front of everybody my vet laughed and told me to put it in a room so we didnt have to see it but she will drag it out I am going crazy please any suggestions I plan on breeding her in a year or two. thank you MOMMY GOING CRAZY |
Hi! I'm new to the site, and new to yorkies. I love my roxie and sasha - they are so adorable! Roxie is expecting, and I have no idea what to do to help her. She seems out of sorts as if she doesn't understand the changes in her body. I want her to be comfortable. I've never bred yorkies before or any other dog. I don't want to lose her if something happens during her pregnancy and I don't know what to do. I'd appreciate any ideas for my little girl! |
