| Would it be unethical of a potential buyer to ... Well since my post last night about a breeder I am considering purchasing from if in fact I decide to purchase at all this yr ..has gotten back to me. I asked for a reference and she fwd me an email from a buyer. Now of course the email addy of this buyer is clearly visible, would it be wrong of me to email and ask her some questions? How would you breeders feel, granted I'm not gonna ask the buyer anything I wouldnt ask the breeder. I'm just curious of what y'all would think.

| I would welcome you to contact the reference as well a buyer chatting with my vet at any time. I can not imagine any breeder getting angry about someone emailing one of their references, that is why she provided it I am sure.

| I don't see why anyone would object to that. If they for some reason had a problem with it, all they are going to do is say either 1) they don't care to discuss it, or 2) ignore your email. I don't see why that would be unreasonable. |

| If they are offended, you need to look for another breeder. |

| When I am asked and I give references, I assume the interested party will contact the people. Cant know much by a name alone. Im sure when they gave you the reference they fully expected you to contact the person. Good luck! |

If she sent a reply that included a email address - then yes by all means contact the reference. I often ask my buyers if they mind if I use them as references and if they agree, then I do just as that breeder did and forward to whoever. Hope this helps.

| vet I would ask for a vet reference. Even the worst breeder can come up with a few happy buyers. If the breeder backs refuses, ask why. Best wishes |

| My vets business card goes with each pup we sell; and they are encouraged to call him with any questions about us or the pups.

| I have been called several times about people wanting to purchase a puppy from the same breeder I purchased from. I am happy to give them as much information as they want and answer as many emails as they want. |
