| Pregnant Yorkies temperature My yorkie is due to have pups on Wednesday so i have been taking her temperature since yesterday morning. I started at 10am and temp was 37.8C, 4pm 37.6, 8pm 37.05 and midnight was 37.33. This morning at 9.30am it was 36.95, 2pm 37.41 and 6pm 37.76. I have read on one site that if it drops below 37.77 then pups should be born within 24hrs and another site says it should drop below 36.66 for this to happen. She has been spending more time in her welping box and is less active apart from the occasional barking at passers by. We have seen clear discharge from her vulva, and pooing as normal. Please can anyone clarify which temperature i should go by as it is abit confusing |

| just stay near your girl-- You're giving us centigrade temp when most of us are accustomed to farenheit, so in order to address your specific temperature concerns we have to go away and do the conversions first. I've nearly abandoned temperature monitoring as confusing. It can go up and down for days, then suddenly bottom out, at least in my experience. I do monitor temp, but rely on that along with other signs. Most importantly, I stay very close to my girls when their whelping time is near, have all my emergency contacts on notice and the car outfitted with emergency supplies and ready to go in the event a hospital visit is needed. Good luck. This is the most stressful part of being a breeder, IMO.

I have several ladies that never vary in their temps more than a degree, and even then, they go up and down.....I make sure my days are counted correctly and I isolate my females away from other dogs two weeks before she is due, and a week before she is due, she is in a whelping crate at the foot of my bed. I seldom take my eyes off her during that last week. I use ALL the signs and indicators that whelping is imminent, rather than just one or two. | |

| Temperature Charting Here is a link which explains the temperature method in detail. Her entire site is very informative so read this article and then read all she has to offer. Like another poster mentioned it is in fahrenheit so you will have to do some conversion, but a rise followed by a drop is what you are looking for. Good luck, prayers for a safe and easy delivery.
