| Color of Yorkie pups.... Hi all!! So I have a question regarding the color of Yorkie pups when they are born...maybe ya'll can help me....3rd litter in the last 6 years, all the pups are born the black and dark brown in pervious 2 litters as well 3 of the pups in this litter. My question is I have 2 pups that were born this litter where one is solid blonde and the other solid gold, not a mark on them. No..the mother never got out..and same parents are previous litters. Any ideas why , is this normal. Both parents are full Yorkie...Help ?? |

| This is what we breeders call "outliers"..."throwbacks"....like lynzy said, it is in their pedigree someplace....both of your parents can be "full yorkies", but if they are carriers of another color trait, it has the chance of showing up. This is why we try to know what our lines are for at LEAST 12 generations back. I think you have researched back 2 generations. If there are any genetic issues that are just "laying in wait to jump up andf bite you", ie bad eyes, hearts, livers, knees, kidneys, huge yorkies, etc., these issues will usually be evident in this 12 generation research. Good luck with your in depth research adventure...if you are now getting color outliers, watch out for possible genetic issues to come to the surface. |
