Day 66/62.. Can anyone help? Hi everyone. Thought I'd start a new thread.. Can you all please tell me what day your Yorkies had babies on, how many she whelped and the birth stories. How long did you realise she was in labour before a pup was born? Poppy is on/between day 66/62. I'm a worry wort but can't see her going into labour anytime soon as she's isn't showing any signs really. She's been losing her mucus plug (not so much the last 2 days). She has her milk. She's been doing a little bit of nesting (maybe once or twice a day). She seems so worn out and just sleeps constantly. Hoping it happens soon - naturally too! Thank you all in advance :) |
I have had some go as long as 69 and 70 days but most go between 61 and 63 days. It looks like the last breeding took with your girl so I would imagine she would have them very soon. Hopefully she will have them tomorrow. Most would start showing signs of labor several hours or longer before the first pup was born. There are always exceptions. I have had some that progressed very quickly from the first signs of labor. First time moms usually take a bit longer. |
Hoping she's starting. Could be wrong though. She has been moving from her whelping box to her bed then onto my rug etc. I'm not letting her out the house as it's very dark here so I've got a pad down for her. She went out on to it and done a wee then went upstairs under my bed. That is very strange as she hasn't left my side in weeks and don't go up there without me. I brought her back down. She's done a bit of more nesting since. Shaking a little. Breathing slightly faster but not panting. She had a poo on the pad just now and when I cleared it up i could tell it's softer than usual but not runny. She's having a little sleep again now. |
It definitely sounds like this is it. What time is it there? I am praying all goes well. |
She's been settled for the last 30 mins. Just sleeping in her bed. Is this normal during early stages? It's 10:30pm here. I'm in the UK. |
Think she may be giving you some early signs of labor. Hope all goes well |
Yes, it is very common for them to rest during early labor. Usually when I observe mine during early labor I notice they will be sleeping but when they have a contraction they will change positions then rest some more. |

She's sleeping again. Do I go to bed myself of wait this out? I've thought a few times that she was in labour and she tricked me. I don't want to do an all nighter if she's tricking me again!.. But on the other hand I don't want to go to bed because I'm sooooo excited that the pups could possibly be on their way! Hummm.... Decisions decisions... |
It sounds like you might be up most of the night. The best thing to do is to dim the lights and pretend you are resting. This is especially important once the hard contractions start. She may still try to go pee and poop some. You just don't want to distract her or interfere to much until the puppy makes an appearance. It will take her a lot of pushing to work the first puppy out. |

No it's dark in here, minus the TV on quietly so I have some light. She's calm & relaxed. She was just panting. I managed to count 103 breaths in 1 minute. Seems to have slowed a little now though? She keeps trying to rest bless her. |
Her belly keeps going lumpy every 5-10mins or so... Is this normal? Is this a sign? |
I keep checking if there are puppy's yet. Those could be contractions :). |
No pups as yet. She's laying next to me ATM getting some rest. I wish I could! Her belly goes really hard and it's bumpy (where the pups are). Only lasts for about a minute? |
Her belly will go hard when she is having contractions. This will go on for awhile then the harder contractions and pushing will start. |
I think your waiting is coming to an end. But it still could be a little time before she is in hard labor. Reading on here so many have different experiences I was lucky the 3 times my Lexi had pups She did amazing and had seven in each litter. That was before my yt days and since have not bred again. I have one of her daughters and the sire to all the pups but both have been fixed. I know how exciting it is and how scary all at the same time |
Thank you all for the messages. I'm pacing the floors waiting for the next stage. Going to try shut my eyes for an hour.. Doubt I'll be able to. Haha |

Sounds like anytime now :) |
Still nothing!! :( |
The little pickle. She is holding out on us. I still think she may be in the first stage of labor |
She's still breathing fast? Not panting though? |
The panting started for my girl when the hard labor started But each dog can be so different |
Didn't realise it would take this long. Now I'm starting to doubt her even being in labour.. Haha. Come on poppy... I'm tired! Managed to get 2 hours sleep. I'm wide awake again now. |
Well I think you will have pups in the next 24 hours I know that seems like along time especially if your not sleeping :( From what you describe her hiding under your bed and being a little more off. Sure sounds like she is getting close. And it's good she is resting because she has her work cut out for her once it really starts Now if only you could rest The first time my Lexi had pups it started at 6pm the next time it was like 12:00am and the third time it was 10:30am. And it takes awhile once they start. |

I had to check for an update Sorry to hear about your Kettle better boil some water in a pan you may need it. That is nice of your sister to pick up your children to help you out. So how old are you children? And are they both girls? I have two daughters but grown. And lucky to have three grandchildren and hoping for more. Lol Sounds like she is in first stage if she is that restless. I know you have heard that for hours :) |
She won't stop weeing! Lol. My girls are 4 1/2 and nearly 2. Which is why I'm getting them picked up. They're being very good ATM and just sitting playing with puzzles :) |
She has a lot of pressure. She is not straining when she goes wee is she? |
Not that I've seen. She does have a lot of pressure. She tried to have a poo and all she had was a nugget (sorry)... X |
