I know a Biewer/Yorkie mix cannot be registered as a yorkie with AKC but I am wondering if they be registered as a Biewer with any of the Biewer clubs? Does anyone know? | In order to register with AKC -- both parents have to be AKC. I believe there are "approved" clubs throughout the world, where one yorkie parent may be registered with that makes them eligible for AKC registration. One of these is the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club). The German Club that the Biewers are usually registered with is not one of the "Approved" clubs with the AKC. From what I've read regarding the Biewer Yorkshire ala Pom Pon, Mr. Biewer wnted to show his dogs, and the main registry did not accept the yorkie of a different color (just like the AKC) in the show ring. So, he registered them as a separate breed with a club that would do it so he was able to show his dogs.
I believe there may be one or two of the clubs who will register the AKC yorkie/Biewer puppies with their Biewer Registry -- but I am not totally sure about it. |
