I do NOT promote breeding, I have rescued and fostered more dogs than I can count and I have been a dog owner my entire life and I have volunteered in a shelter long enough to understand why not everyone deserves a dog, but you are making blanket statements about every single pet owner that decides to breed and I dont agree.

Beleive me, I am on your side, but I will not treat every single person who wants to know about breeding as if they are about to kill their dog because they are complete idiots...because I dont think that they are.Its as simple as that.
Again you are wrong on all counts. My message to you was that I was teasing you because you as I always advocate AGAINST BREEDING for all the wrong reasons...your pups were beautiful, they all are..of course they are. Patronizing? communication barrier.

Theres nothing simple about the suffering of dogs and quite frankly I am very disappointed that you as a so called "rescuer" also allowed your dog to get pregnant and purposely bred just so she can have one litter??...very sad.

To answer the OP's question, as long as the male yorkie does not carry the recessive gene that the Biewer does, the puppies will have the traditional yorkie color. They may have a bit more white on their chest and/or paws, but that will blend in as they grow. There are some people who only breed Biewer to Biewer. But many will breed back to the traditional yorkie. The Biewer is basically a color variation of the yorkshire terrier. They are both yorkie. Your friend should let anyone she sells the puppies to know that they are carriers of the recessive color gene, in case they will want to breed them in the future. Hopefully they will be sold as pampered pets with a spay/neuter contract!

What is a mixed Yorkie to Biewer called?:D Is it a Yorkie? Is it a Biewer? Or is it now a Mutt?

I think the mindsets in certain countries is different when it comes to breeding. Where my parents are from when they were kids if you liked a particular dog for a certain reason(herding ability) and another of the same breed that had great watchdog abilities you bred them. This was done without health screenings. Things have come further along genetics wise since then obviously ;). My mil is cuban and has that mindset still lol.I do believe it's right to do some research before breeding...you wouldn't want to go in "half cocked" but I don't think youd have to research for 6 years without having had your own litter or having helped raised one. I sure as heck didn't research for 6 years after being married to "breed" with my husband(j/k) Back when this breed was first started I doubt the breeders at the time interfered much with the whelping Their bodies are made to do this...meaning they have all the equipment. If there is an issue that's where your research ( even after 6 years you are still likely to learn new things) and mentor comes into play.

In Germany, where they originated, the ones with traditional coloring are yorkies and the ones with the Biewer coloring are called Biewer Yorkshire Terriers. They are not considered "mutts"

I thought the Bewier club here was trying to get them recognized as a separate breed from Yorkies.

I think that's what most of the clubs would like... But, in my opinion, some of what's being done is at the expense of the health of the dogs. There's been a lot if inbreeding from the beginning, so that contributes to some genetic issues. There are some Biewer breeders here in the US who are working on the problems with the Biewer. I personally think it will be quite awhile, if ever, before they get accepted as a separate breed. After all, they are a yorkie -- just with different colors. Exactly like the Parti yorkie -- which are recognized as a yorkie -- with different colors.

OP: The babies are going to be beautiful, all I can say is make sure the owner of the female research breeding to make sure this is something she wants to do.

@ Gina's Baby's...you are 100% correct. I've come to accept that some people on this site have their opinions, which they are of course more than entitled to have, but they like to present them as fact. Sometimes a bit of common sense goes a long way :)

It's really sad that yall care so little about our dog over population and all the unwanted dogs we have in shelters. I encourage you to go work at a kill shelter and see what happens to some of these dogs. I pray for the day everyone will care.

I don't know if I was one of the "y'all" you were referring to...:confused:. Because I have an opinion different from yours does not mean I don't care it just means we have differing thoughts when it comes to breeding.;) It may be a "cultural" thing, but even within the same culture you'll find those with different opinions about an issue. I'm aware of dog overpopulation and ones that are unwanted and I do know what happens to the majority of them. You'll hear from individuals that if you bought a dog from a breeder instead of adopting that you(in general) dont care about the pet overpopulation in the U.S. because you bought instead of adopting when there are millions of animals in a shelter waiting for a home....i don't agree with that btw I'm just giving an example. It's just an opinion it doesn't make it wrong/right/fact and it certainly doesn't make me or you care less :)
