2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | If you whitness sevral or even just one tie between the male and female between day 10-15 of the start of the heat cycle it is likely that she is pregnant. Signs of pregnancy: Vulva remain somewhat swollen after mating and throughout the entire pregnancy Milk line starting at the vulva and works its way up both sides of the teats Mood change Appetite change Weight gain Teats will become raised Please continue to do tons of research on whelping, what danger signs to look for. What to do in case of an emergency, plus be sure to have an emergency vets number on hand just in case. I would suggest getting prepared around week 6 whether you know for sure or not. Its better to be prepared than find yourself in a situation where you have nothing ready. Check out thrift stores, garage sales and Good Will stores for old baby blankets, towels and rugs to use for whelping and for every day use and bedding for mamma and pups. Plus start saving new papers. They can get messy from the ink but it washes off. Debbie Jensen has a great site with really great information that will be very helpful for you beginners. Plus if you search YT you can find tons of other helpful threads. Hope this helps. | Today 10-8-13 So reading all day & went out to the store & bought her heating blanket. Bought many other things & puppy formula & bottles just in case. This morning she skipped her meal & looks to me like she vomitted just a tiny bit. She was also shaking or shivering a lot & took her out for a walk & she stopped. I took her temp & i dont think it was accurate because it read 98.6 Anyways... Im reading alot. Shes hiding under my bed more than usual. Now im pretty sure shes pregnant but now im concerned With why shes shivering . I made an appt with the vet but its not until tuesday next week. Btw my vet asked me about her mating days & told him her first mating was like around day 9-til day 15 . & actually calculated she might be 7-8 weeks & she should go for xray next week. So now im concerned cuz shes not really showing a big belly i do feel bumps now & than her milk line is there. Her vulva iis swollen. & my calculations where 6-7weeks im worried for premature pups. Thanks for reading |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | What was the date of the first tie/breeding ? If she is in her 7-8th week you will want to start her on puppy food to help build her calcium level. I always mix dry & wet puppy food, feed three time a day and increase to 4-5 times after whelping to help mamma keep up with the demand. It will help the milk production and the growth of the pups. Just be sure not to give her any type of vitamins containing calcium, they can increase the size of the puppies and cause a difficult whelping.
