Donating YT 14K Club Member | Urgent help needed!!!!! Breeder in town called me. I've been aware of her situation since the pregnancy took place. She bred her Tinkerbell...this is her 3rd pregnancy. Tinkerbell has aborted/miscarried her first 2 pregnancies at 7 weeks...pups were 2 weeks early. With this pregnancy, today she started tremoring. She called 2 vets and they said there was nothing they could do. Is there anyone out there that would know what could be causing this and if there is anything that could be done to stop pre-labor? She aborted/miscarried 7 puppies each time. The breeder said if she does not carry this time, Tinkerbell will be spayed. Any suggestions???

| It sounds like she may be low on calcium. Do you know if she is on calcium pills? |

| Sounds scary Kimberly.. I wish her the best of luck. To me it sounds like calcium deficeincy (?). As far as I know there is no way to stop aborsbtion/miscarriages. Wait praying sometimes works. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | She does have her on calcium supplements...one full tab a day. And has been on supplements for a few weeks now per the advice from her regular vet. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this. Talking to her on the phone, I told her to crate Tinkerbell and limit to limit her movements. She didn't think that Tinkerbell got around all that much. I called her back and told her to call Dr. Froelich...a reproductive specialist here in town. Dr. Froelich is out of town but she spoke to Dr. Schomberg (spelling). He told her the same thing...there's nothing to keep her from going into labor and he too, told her to crate Tinkerbell. He told her to call in the morning since Dr. Froelich will be back. Dr. Schomberg said that dogs have braxton hicks (which I already told her) and that with her being the size she is, the pups were probably moving and adjusting themselves and it was painful for her...thus the tremors. When I took the puppies to her house for our Granny's funeral, Tinkerbell was AS big as Gracie was when she delivered and Tinkerbell had a month left to go. She's due January 10th. Just keep Tinkerbell in your prayers.

| I hope that everything goes well for her. My dog did this and the vet gave her meds plus calcium by IV. Everything stopped and she did great. Hopefully the puppies are just moving around and making it painful(not that I would wish that on her), which in turn causes the tremors. I'm sure she's miserable. Crating her is probably a good idea. Seems like they would have something to stop labor like they do for humans. I'm sure my yorkie had braxton hicks contractions because she also did the tremmoring along with heavy panting. Still took her about a week before she finally had her babies. Keep me updated on how things are going. Edit to say that she is in my prayers. |

| That's very sad. My best wishes to Tinkerbell & the breeder. With humans, don't they just put them on bed rest? If this happens again with her 3rd litter, I would hope that this woman will have the dog spayed and never bred again. I can't imagine how traumatizing it is for Tinkerbell.

| All my best to Tinkerbell and your friend. I sure hope all the prayers sent by this bunch of nice people will help her and she can have a normal and safe delivery, after all. I'm sure she feels comforted by knowing you and having you to ask for advice. I would. |

| Kimberly, Has your friend taken Tinkerbell's temp? I would do that right away and see if her temp has fallen.. It does sound like her calcium level is very low and she might need a IV with calcium.. There is also a great calcium supplement that I ALWAYS keep on hand for my mothers and it is called CALSORB.. It is a very fast acting calcium and has helped me out of many tight situations! I believe that you can order it from Revival and Lambier (spelling).. Keep us updated on Tinkerbell.. Melanie |
