| Worried about my Tinker Hi everyone, my baby had a liter or 3 on Saturday ( June 1st) everything seemed to be ok, except for the last pup came in feet first and the sac, placenta was a green/blackish color...she ate all 3. She was thirsty and hungry after the birth and seemed to be doing fine, on Monday I took her and her pups into the vet for a check up, and dew claws/tails. About 4 days ago she started having diarrhea and at first it was dark but not smelly....then 2 days ago, she developed a more yellow foul smelly type....she goes outside but comes in and scoots her butt on the carpet. I was feeding her boiled chicken breast, rice and carrots....plus her dry food. I've noticed in the last day or so she hasn't been drinking water, but when I put my finger in the water and let her lick it she will lap her water up a little (this is by me bringing the bowl to her face) but today she quit doing that....she seems lethargic and skinny, the pups are getting fat and she her breasts feel fool...I can hear them swallowing milk. I'm concerned and I'm not sure if this is normal or not, she's had a liter before many years ago but this is different. She's also whining and hiding in my closet and under my bed leaving her pups but only for a few minutes....or if they cry she will return to them. Thanks....I think I should take her in to get checked.

| I'm not a breeder, but I agree with you. I'd have her vet checked asap! Something's not right, and you've noticed it. I hope she feels better soon.

| It sounds like she may have metritis, which is a medical emergency that causes sepsis and possibly death. She needs to be seen at the vet immediately!!!!!! PetMD Mobile - Dog Health Article Please let us know what the vet says and how she is doing. Glad the puppies are doing well so far, but I would look into feeding alternatives because I am concerned your little mama will be staying at the vet on IV antibiotics...good luck and hoping she does well. Please post updates!

| Hi everyone, thank you so much for your concern, I took Tinker in as soon as the vets office opened and they saw her almost right away. They drew blood and the vet worried about her kidneys failing, her calcium or worse but she didn't have a fever, she was not dehydrated but her sugar was low and he said she was a bit anemic. Her pups are healthy and well dehydrated. Tinker was prescribed several meds and food, I'm happy she's eating the food and she even got up to drink water on her own. She still has diarrhea but I have faith the meds will work.....she's acting more like my Tink. Vet also said she's producing enough milk.

| Whew, good news. I was really worried that Tinker had a bad uterine infection. Glad that's not the case!
