I don't think it's that they are really that concerned about the subject (dogs size or whatever) they just want to put the person down & belittle them. This is the way they come across to newbies. Here is a line from one of my PMs. " I would really like to tell a few people on her where to go and a few other words but I'm keeping it cool. I don't think I will post on this website anymore.. .." Is this how you want new people coming to this board for help or to make friends to feel??? Not you imparticular but I think the ones that are at fault know who they are. Come on people look at how you come across.

i so agree with this post. I am a very outspoken and opinated person. I am often misunderstood BUT, when I first joined here I was the object of some of the posts you were talking about (Or my breeder was, because my pup's mother was under five pounds). I nearly left because of it. I recieved PM's out the wazoo from other people who own and breed tinies. One even said," many, many on here have and BREED tinies. We have just learned to keep our mouths shut and go on about our business. We don't need all the drama from a few people we get everytime we post something." Looks like I am not going to have to worry about that now. My "tiny" is gonna be a BIG man. LOL

I think from now on we that are not in the select few should at least speak when we are put down in a rude or belittling way. At least say something like "You are not being nice" b/c we outnumber by far. If the reply is not obnoxious or rude fine, we can agree to disagree in print. This should let the ones that that think their opinion is not law just b/c they think that way.
Ok girls & boys let them know we are here to.

I agree this is Christmas lets put our differences aside and get along. I sure hate to hear there are some people who are uncomfortable with posting. I think this is a big board though with varing opinions and everyone should feel comfortable posting. Merry Christmas Everyone!

troubletb 12-25-2005 01:03 PM

Your are right it is Christmas. I don't like to fight with people, Everyone is allowed to say or believe in whatever it is they want. People need not to be so rude nor do people need to take everything posted to heart. I will go out on a limb to say that most of our members just feel we need to do the best for our breed. People have heard so many horror stories about tinies and being unhealthy and some even dying. That does not mean that every tiny came from a tiny parent or that every tiny is unhealthy, or that every tiny will die. People have just heard too many "Accident stories" and other stories to get them upset.
This is a board, it means you can come here to ask questions, post a disagreement, have an opinion, or just post a quick Hello!! No one should feel that they can not post. This board is an open forum for all yorkie owners who are members, that alone gives people a right to ask questions and post answers.

I don't think any of our members come on this forum to scare away people. People need to get past what they don't believe in and get to the information that they do.

Yorksrule 12-25-2005 01:23 PM

Hopefully everyone will have a New Years resolution to think twice & be nice with their advice & answers. If you are upset about what is on the Post & can't respond without criticizing just don't respond or wait until you are not upset about the post. I am including myself in this as I have said things I would not normally say & did in a Post that was deleted by the adms. I am glad they did as I would not want to be such a jerk. I was just in shock at some of the things that people say. I think we will see a lot more interesting conversation & more people will open up & not just watch from the sidelines.

Happy New Year

I agree.... I have not posted on a few things as a result of being new and receiving some harsh responses on posts I have made... While most of the members here have made me feel nothing but welcomed, some have made me wonder if I really liked this site... I cringe when I read some of the resopnses that people get.

I have decided that I do like this site and can see past the few who seem to fly off at the handle without thinking... Its amazing what a little seperation from a situation will do... Never respond in anger. If we all take time to think about how our words affect others we might choose them more wisely.

When I first joined I felt like everything I asked was wrong the way I was doing it. I soon realized that the people on here really love yorkies, and so do I. I think differences of opinion can be dealt with with pm's more than some of the postings. I really don't want newbies scared off. I also want to thank everyone on here for all of the information given to me. I don't know what I would do without YT!

I have learned many valuable lessons from this board and as I grow into breeding, I hope to learn many more. There are some terrific, knowledgable people on here and even some of those respond in ways that seem rude at times. I don't think they mean to but they do. There is way too much drama going on about different things in the name of "loving our yorkies". But, hey, I have been quilty also. I think I might even have offended someone today and I can't even find the post now. I didn't mean to but I did. If anyone has been offended by me, I am truly sorry and apologize.

Nicely said!

This may sound a bit harsh, but I have been thinking about this for awhile. I have heard a few say that sometimes people may be afraid to post because they are afraid they will get bashed. I submit that anyone who is afraid of being bashed knows from the start that they have done something not quite right, and are perhaps in fear of bashing because of guilt.

Anyone who has a legitimate question or comment should never be afraid to express it, no matter what kind of answers they get. These things are only words. Words cannot hurt you unless you allow them to. They cannot wound or scar unless you take them that way. Take them with a grain of salt, folks. Of course, postings with spoonfuls of sugar are better, for sure... :p

When you begin a thread, ask yourself what kind of answers do you expect? And sometimes it helps if you express that too. Tell people "please do not lecture me, I only want to know...", and perhaps they won't do it.

I love YT. I have learned a lot here. I have never yet been hurt by a post. I cringe for other people from time to time, however. I would love to see everyone live happily with each other, but the nature of the human beast would never allow that. There will always be controversy. Always be differences of opinion. Civility is needed to make this easier to bear.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Happy 2006, YT! I expect to be here for many years to come! :D

GREAT POST AND AWESOME ADVICE! To think...I use to be one of those that was afraid to post sometimes but then I thought screw it. I've met some wonderful people here and some not so wonderful but that's okay. I'll take the good with the bad. I love the site as a whole.

The one thing most of us have in common is that we all love our furbabies! We want what is best for them...after all, isn't that why most of us are here?

I don't agree with some of the posts (breeding tinies is #1) out there and I've voice my opinion on them. After all, this is the world wide web and things that are posted are for all out there to see. Off topic for a second...I use to wonder (and still do) why people went on those talk shows (like Springer or Montel) to talk about their personal lives then scream and yell that people were being unfair to them. Don't want people to know your personal business, then why go on the show.

People come here for opinions and advice. I still do that.

Happy 2006 to you as well!

red98vett 12-26-2005 05:13 AM

I wasn't going to post here because it just seems negative to keep talking about this - but considering the VAST Numbers of POSITIVE posts here - there is only a small fraction of 'not so positive' posts ...

Considering the size of this site... I think it moves along pretty well. People forget - there are personalities behind each post.... so in reading different threads - we are reading peoples feelings... and each of us has a different way of expressing them.

If we all posted the same way this would be a pretty boring place to be.

I forgot to add...Jaspersmom...(Glad) - you did an excellent post - very well said

You are SO right! Right after I posted above, I received a couple of pm-s thanking me for what I posted...here's a cut from one..."I see you take a lot from people, and I appreciate how well you take it. I appreciate your posts, your honesty, and your frankness. You don't pull any punches, but you don't play games, either..." guess that it goes both ways.

I SO AGREE with that pm to you :)

and I have to wonder when Yorksrule said that there are many people that pm her saying they're breeding tinies - I seriously doubt that's true on this site....If it was true - why don't they post ? ....

In my opinion..... if you are doing something you are PROUD of - then you would want to share it with others & wouldn't worry about what anyone says. Of course ...people who intentionally breed super tiny yorkies really don't have anything to be proud of. Remember ...I said this is only my opinion.... :)

EXACTLY! Awesome, Villette, once again! :)

There really are a lot of people breeding smaller dogs, this is what the public wants. I am proud of what I do. I did try to share with others & look what happened. But I have sold 3 males to YT members, & have a deposit on another. I don't consider mine super tiny at 4lbs & a good bone structure. There do get to small & I will not breed if they are. I really like being on this forum. There is a world of information & I learn something every day. I will just except that people are raised differently than I was & try to take what they say in stride. I have just dealt with the public all my life & have never met people like the ones on this board. I am sure being on a computer & not face to face has a lot to do with it. I think an anonymous poll is in order to see how many breed tinies.
