| Songrams and x-rays can be tricky business. Mimi was x-rayed once and showed 4 pups when she actually had 6, all healthy and all made it. I have learned that atleast you could have an idea with an x-ray and its better than just being in the dark. I learned this all to well recently and will always have an x-ray regardless in the future. My vet lays them out "spread eagle" on their back instead of the sideways view that a previous vet I used to go to did. It allows you to see the pelvic opening better to see if mom is large enough there to easily pass puppies through. My beloved girl Rio was not x-rayed this time, gave birth to 5 pups when there were actually 6 , was given oxytocin after what we thought was the last pup, and never passed the 6th puppy. 3 days later I lost her during the surgery to remove the last pup that was dead inside her. The anethesia is what took her life according to my vet. I wish I would have had her x-rayed, maybe I would have caught the 6th pup and known it was there and extra doses of oxy could have been administerd and moitored by my vet to try to get the last one expelled. You are probably looking at 2 pups from what you said about your x-ray, but you never know. And yes, they can be a little larger when there is a smaller size litter. Sometimes not, but is possible. Doenst mean they will absolutely mature to be huge yorkies, but could be a little larger at birth. Better to have a good size pup at birth than to have tinies like we did this time and lose 2 of them because they were too small. Good luck to you and your soon to be mommy! | Good Morning - Thank you for your reply and explanation of it all. We did see the two heart beats on the sonogram..but her sonogram wasn't working as well as last time..My vet even made the comment she really needed to get a new one....that is probably why she didn't make me pay for the second one. Like you say...Who Know?? I know for sure she has that one up in her ribs even before we did the xray and songram because one day she was laying on my tummy and that little one inside her kicked me a good one. Even so her little tummy is getting so wide spread...I think there is three. I am so sorry to hear about your little one..that had to have broken your heart..I know it would have me. Before I bought my Yorkies I had had a schnazer-poodle mixed dog and he lived to be 21 years old..and I had had him since birth. My Joey just died of old age but he still looked really good...It broke my heart even though I knew it was about time. I didn't think I would ever again find another dog I would love so much..But..that isn't the case...I have the two Yorkies..Lil'Bit and Pismo...and they are great. Even though on her first litter she had four and gave birth to all four in about ten minutes with no problems I am still keeping a very close watch on my little girl. Watch the Yorkie sight...When she delivers I am going to notify everyone... Thanks Again... Sandie |

| Good Morning - I am "NOT KIDDING" It all happened SO FAST that I had to help her clean off her pups! You are right...up to now I never heard of that either...But...I was there and I saw it for my own eyes! That is one of the reasons I sent out this notice to everyone asking questions about this next birth and all my concerns. Because I figured if Lil' Bit had the first litter and (4) pups in all that fast...What is going to happen with this second litter...Especially with one of my concerns on the size of the pup or pups??? If she had (4) that fast...What happens if she trys to have "maybe" these large ones and I happen not to be home or in the room?? But I do always have someone with her if I can't possible be there..Work,etc. But as far as Work...I have already told them I could not work Dec 27th..On..Till my Little Girl has her pups. I am one of the lucky ones that I have a job I can do that and STILL have my job. As you see my Lil' Bit to me is more important...I take her every where...I don't want anything to happen to her...I love her so much even though she is a little psychotic at times...Ha...Ha. I will be posting when she does "finally" have one, two or three, etc. pups and explain to everyone how many she had and how it went. Respond to this if you wish...Thanks...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year... Sandie |
