I haven't been able to find any Registered breeders who will sell a puppy for under 2000....I am looking for specific things though.

Make a list and post it.

You were told previously though that looking for full breedong rights on champion line dogs with full ownership with the intention of only having dogs to breed for yourself is probably not going to happen though.

Thats like asking someone to invest 20 years in sonething basically religious to them and to hand it over to you for a minimal fee for you to solely bennefit and do whatsoecer you please.

I know it seens obtuse to say it this way but what you're askibg for, if that's what you are ibdeed asking for, is obtuse yo the people you are asking for it from.

There's some middle ground I'm sure that can be found if seek it.

I have said before that I totally want to show, that's why I'm seeking a high quality puppy with champions in its back ground, but I do also want to breed any dog that finishes. I have been doing alot of research into breeders and anything Yorkie for along time and would really like to purchase one soon. I just didn't realize how hard it would be.

Yeah it will be in some aspects even if you do want to show as any show prospect a breeder would retain for themselves.

Most shiw breeders have shared they took over for their mentor or started on a reccomendation from their mentor and co-owning dogs.

Its a hard club to join.

Have you been to a lot of shows and networked like that?

I am sooooo glad I didn't get the Yorkie from Thundering hills as she got the puppy from Starlight Yorkie which I researched and found alot of bad reports about them...Looks like it may be a puppy mill.They will not let you come to there property to view a puppy. !!!!!! No wonder Thundering hills wants to find a new home for her..... Wow research is so important! I even found some treads on here about starlight yorkies!

I don't understand why Thundering Hill buys from others if she breeds her own? The Korean puppy she offered me was 5 months old and now she has a 8 month old from another breeder? Yet she has 2 litters of pups that were just born this past month...weird??? Does anyone know why they would do this? I guess if she wants new dames and sires to breed with?

Breeders often buy dogs to breed.
Many cobstantly as line breeding is taboo in many ways for many reasons.

I know many breeders will also jump on that as they do line breed and beleive in it, but the above is why a breeder buys dogs, why breeders co own or trade stud from other lines kennels etc.

More importantly to me is why would she be importing a paperless dog from Korea...huge red flag.

Thanks concretegurl, I am clued out when it comes to breeding:) Do you by any chance know why female pups seem to always cost more than male pups even when there is a spaying contract?

I'd guess because people don't follow the contracts and breed anyways.

I don't know if that's the real answer though.

I'm just passing on what I've learned from breeders.

More people still prefer females, and breeders have less females to sell. They often will keep more females than males for their own breeding program.

I was told by one breeder if her females tend to be a little larger but within the standard she would keep them for her own breeding program, to keep her lines open. The smaller ones would go for sale, but would be held longer than the twelve weeks based on size. Not that she breeds for smaller, but she would keep larger instead of smaller.She told me if they are charting to be under 4lbs..they go for pets only. I liked that about her, but got stuck on Biewers so I wound up going with someone else..she didn't breed Biewers only standard. I guess the reasoning that there are fewer females available would be why they are more expensive.

I don't charge more for females compared to males. Anything I have that I am not keeping is sold for pet. Show breeders who are reputable will do the same thing except some do sell for show/breeding but to people they know well. Too many have been burned trusting their lines to a newcomer and their lines ended up where they should not have been.
It has been a while since I have sold a female for pet. Reason being I haven't had any born for a while now, had a couple of all male litters. That happens.
If you are serious about showing get serious about attending shows, chatting up breeders at the shows, be prepared for co ownership if you do manage convince someone to trust you.

I for one would need to be retired to breed or show dogs. I can barely keep up with grooming, playing with one Yorkie ...puppy. A herd no way JMO :)
I think big dogs are easier. I can throw the ball far and not worry to much. Yorkies to many dangers ime
