5 puppies...i think hello. on the 19th july i confirmed tilly is expecting and on the 9th she is going in for scans to see howthings are going before she has the pups.... last night i checked her belly and it did not feel like 5 in there it also felt like a belly full of water/fluids...then this morning i could only feel 1 pup. she is huge like there is more than one in there. i am trying to hold out till thursday as i know it could be that the pups are in the wrong place at the right time. has any one else have this happen? i'm not too worried (unless one of you think i should be) as she seems ok....she sleeps with bouts of trying to get me to play fetch also she is refusing to eat dog biscuits(the puppy food the vet suggested). i tried mixing them with puppy meat but she sucked them clean and spat them out. i have supplemented with lactol but she only drinks a little of it

i tried the stethoscope today.... i could hear 3 strong rythms and 1 quieter one (possibly in wrong position to hear clearly) i think number 5 might be between 1 2 and 3 but am prepared for the possibility the 5th one was re absorbed into the body i am happier now i can hear them. this is going to be a long 3 weeks till her due date...

| Good luck! She is definitely holding quite a few in there! Wait for the scans. Be ready in the end and have a vet ready as well! Will be checking for updates!

she is going on thursday for ultrasound scans i'll ask the vet about the xrays i'm convinced she's going to whelp early.....i'll be happy with anything after 17th august which is day 57.... i was asked the strangest question a couple of days ago... "are you going to let her have any more?". in my head was "ok so i'm a nervous wreck watching every twitch and sneeze and i still have to get this litter into the world and make sure the pups make it to weanining age, and be prepared for screening potential owners etc" what came out was... "not sure yet" i'll post the ultrasound pics thursday

this morning i got up and asked tilly if she wanted to go out. she looked at me and gave me a look to say "do i look like i want to get up?".... i tried lifting her thinking perhaps getting up was difficult, she went floppy and dug her feet into the blanket till i gave up. she wanted a belly rub instead

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Good luck with your mama-to-be and the pups. With another 2+ weeks to go she's still got a whole lot of growing to do as most of the pups' growth happens in the last week to 10 days. Knowing that she is PG (obviously), not sure what you're doing the ultrasound for; an x-ray about a week before her due date is all you need. This will give you a fairly accurate look at how many pups and pups head/pelvic ratio to foresee any possible whelp problems due to pups size.

i asked the vet about x rays and they don't do them routinely. i'll ask again on thursday... tilly is full of energy today and just about dragged me out for a walk the ultrasound is just to make sure the pups are developing....as growth stops if there is something wrong. i had a choice of 2 vets in the area.....1 accused me of doing it for money the other (the one i chose) does ultrasound...no bloods taken. i'll see how the vet is...could be a health and safety thing, i'm in the uk everything is assessed and what is good for you one day is bad the next lol

i didn't go with the x ray in the end but the ultrasound showed me quite a bit she is now at 5.9 kg (about 13lb) and counting lol. we saw one of the puppies wriggle, and one yawned. i ask for the x rays as she was being too bouncy and from the ultrasound i could see that even if we could get her to stay still long enough, the pups were moving too much the photos were too big to upload...so i posted one on facebook

today is day 53....yesterday tilly went out and did what she had to do. when she came in there was a trail of mucus hanging. i think it is the mucus plug coming out...slowly. there was a small amount today. i'm hoping this does not mean labour is about to start soon as 10 days is too early. i will be taking temps 3 times a day. she is sleeping alot now this morning she was 37.3c at lunch it was 37.5c

watching tilly i think she may "pop" over the weekend. 4 am today she had 1 practice contraction and went very quiet. i got up and checked her temp and checked her whelping box. by the time i had done that she was back to normal and wanted to play ball. i offered her some food and she almost forgot to chew.....i went back to bed
