YorkieTalk Newbie! | Bacterial infection in a pregnant yorkie Hello, my 2 1/2 year old yorkie is pregnant with her first litter. She is 48 days pregnant and i know that to be the exact day because we only mated her one day and it took..I am sort of worried because she is normally 5.5 lbs and she is now 6.2 lbs and as big as a balloon..but what i am worried about is that she has a bacterial infection and i have taken her to the vet and she put her on amoxicillin on Monday and i still notice a little discharge still coming out..I have been reading so many reviews on google that i am worried i will lose her or she may have a still born puppy inside. Has anyone had anything like this happen to their dog, and if so, what may i expect? She does go for her exray this Monday coming up..I do feel puppies moving inside.. treesfig |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Update, well i went to another vet today for a second opinion and found out today that it is not a bacterial infection..It is just normal discharge..because she has had her hair cut recently and that she is carrying 4 puppies! (xray today) that i would not really have noticed it if her hair was covering it and she was able to lick herself clean..Nothing for me to worry about he says, she looks great and doing well.... |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | She weighed 5.5 lbs and the male is 5..I have breed bigger dogs in the past, and no i am not a puppy mill. i take pride in my dogs and pups..They are my babies...First time breeding a yorkie, Most of our pups stay in the family and then spayed after first or second time of breeding...Can't stand the breeders that breed for income... |

| Glad you got a second opinon on your girl. Why did the 1st vet think it was an infection? Good luck with your litter.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Good question..that's what this vet asked too...the last vet took a test of it and said it was good, but said it looked like a bacterial infection..that's what i guess i kept dwelling on this week, was that the lab work came out good but how could she say it was a bacterial infection...When i took her today, the other vet said the same thing..told me to take her off the antibiotics and save them for maybe after her birth...says sometimes they get a little infection after giving birth...but she was as normal and healthy as can be..My other vet even scared me saying that she would need a c-section and she may have very bad complications giving birth..This vet said she was a good size and very healthy..no worry of c-section unless i see she looks like she is having a problems like any dog..I think its time to get rid of the old vet.. |
