Yorkie Yakker | humping I am very concerned that my male yorkie tried to hump my hand/ arm this evening. He tried several times as I was sitting on the floor reading. He is 4.5 years old and has NEVER done this to me or anyone else before. Should I be worried? I gave him his favorite stuff toy that he humps to get him away from me and he just sat next to it and didn't hump it. He always loves to hump this toy!! What is going on with my little stud muffin? |

| Humping is not sexual, it is dominance. Female puppies do it too. Hope this helps.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I don't mind it when a dog humps a toy, but you should never allow a dog to hump a human, you or any other human. You should push your dog away and tell him "No" when he does this. RustysMom is correct this is a sign of dominance, and your dog is telling you he's the boss. The problem with that is it can cause aggressive behavior when someone else is around you. He is telling you that YOU are his. One tip I read about concerning becoming the alpha again, it to make him sit before you place his food bowl down. Don’t allow him to eat, until you give the release command. Keep picking the bowl up until he stays and obeys. Really, just this one thing can help so much in teaching your dog that you’re the boss. I mean we all know that your dog is the boss, you’ve got to trick him into thinking that you are the boss! Seriously, this will help your dog become a much happier dog, they really don’t want to be the alpha, that’s a tough job.
