breathing and panting I am not a breeder but I have a question. I spoke with my breeder and my hopeful little girl who isnt a week old had to be taken to the vet. My breeder is concerned about her breathing. The vet said it is not her heart but her lungs are a little underdeveloped. He gave her a shot to speed up lung development. The puppy is gaining weight, eating and not distress crying. I just need some insight or experiences. I want this little girl so much and I am praying she will be alright. I am so nervous and scared. My breeder wont promise her to me until she opens her eyes and she makes sure she is fine. We live in a humid climate and it is unseasonably warm.

Thank God you have a breeder that is concerned and reputable. Just work with her, let her do what she knows how to do best, and if she feels the baby is going to be healthy and will survive, she will promise her to you. All you can do now is pray for the baby. Was she the only one in the litter?

Please let us know how she is doing.....if she was fertilized on the last day of mating, that could explane why her lungs are a little underdeveloped, as opposed to something being wrong. So try not to get too upset.....just say prayers for the baby.....

Thanks I told my daughter I felt that we jinxed the little baby because I bought one thing from petsmart this week end. I will continue to pray that all goes well. I am so thankful that this breeder was concerned enough to rush her to vet. I think it says alot about this breeder since wont promise her to me until she is sure all is well. She did say that she gaining weight ,eating and she has a beautiful shinny coat. I guess she is loving that milk bar!

I just spoke with the breeder. She had the little baby to the vet today. The vet is very pleased and she is coming along fine. She is growing and gaining weight. Her breathing has improved. Thank you all for the prayers.

Thanks for your warm thoughts. My head has been spinning. I received sad and happy news. Sorry for my misspelling in the earlier post. I really couldn't focus today. I am scrambling trying to get things together. We went to Petsmart and Walmart to do some shopping this evening. I feel so sorry for the little newborn's mother. The breeder said the mom is acting depressed so she is giving her some extra love and care right now.
