I have talked to a couple people and have heard conflicting information about Chocolate yorkies. I my self have never seen any before the pups. I was just wondering if anyone had any information and how often do you see these guys??? I am probably over reacting again I tend to do that sometimes

Congratulations on your beautiful babies!!!! I am so glad to hear that all went well with the whelp.

I was surprised when you were describing the birth order and hearing the mention of chocolates. You originally mentioned mama was a silky bred to a Yorkie, correct? You didn't mention her was a chocolate yorkie so I assume(d) the stud was a traditional. If that is correct, then there must be the chocolate gene in the line somewhere; I'm not sure on the whens & how the genes show themselves in litters though???

Nor do I know if that color is possible to come from the Silky breed either. As far as the chocolate color goes; it's just one of the varieties of Yorkies like the partis, goldens, etc. Not of the Yorkie standard, but nothing wrong with them health-wise that I know of.
Good luck with your litter; can't wait to watch them grow.

Yes mom is a Silky Terrier and dad is a typical Yorkie. I was surprised to see chocolates. Not sure how they got there. I don't think Silky's have those kind of pups. They are absolutely adorable though

Thanks again everyone!!! I have read that they do not have health issues but some people say rare some people say a major birth defect. All I know is that they are beautiful and vet says they are Healthy. That is all I care about

Looking at the pictures again I almost wonder if they have some gold in them rather than chocolate?? Or maybe it's just the lighting. In any case they are beautiful & it will be fun to see how they turn out as they get older.

"Rare" is a word often used as a ploy to charge more for a puppy. Major birth defect???? No......a color fault is more like it. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder............your babies are beautiful!
