| ![]() Hi everyone, I just joined this website because I'm trying to buy my first Yorkie and I really want to make sure I buy one from a good breeder. So, can anyone tell me of a good breeder in the Denver area? Even if they are a few hours away, I'm ok with that. Here are two people I'm looking at. Home Page Untitled Document Does anyone know anything about them? I'm trying to find someone who sells Yorkies for $1200 or less. Thanks! ![]() |

| ![]() The first one doesn't expand on any guarantee.....No breeder can guarantee the weight of a puppy, they can guesstimate...... The 2nd one's guarantee you can throw out the door......The gurantee is to benefit the breeder not the pup......

| ![]() Thanks for the info on their guarantees... I've already gone on the ytca website and emailed all of the breeders. Most of them didn't contact me back. |

| ![]() By just looking at their web sites - JMO: The first one site bred Lil Samantha and she looks way under 5 pounds - too small to breed. It is way too dangerous to breed one under 5 pounds. And the pup she has avaiable is from Samantha. Hmmm... I also questions the color and texture of some of the coats she is breeding. The 2nd one - after looking at the photos of her yorkies - they are below standard (ears down). YTCA list - Be sure you tell them about why you are looking for a yorkie and about your family and how this new addition will fit in. If you only ask a one liner question to them - I can guarantee you they will not email you back. You can also try calling them at a good hour. And remember - Many do show on weekends. | ![]() Hi - Welcome to Yorkietalk! I totally agree with Mardelin & Topknot - they're veterans who show and occasionally breed. They've been around this breed for many years. The first site doesn't even list the age of the puppy for sale --- ? The mom, poor thing, looks to be under the recommended weight and is not a good representation of the breed. I didn't get past the first page on the second site. None of them are of breed standard. So sad. If you go to the AKC site an look up the Yorkshire Terrier - that's what they're suppose to look like. People who breed like this are changing what the breed is suppose to look like and people who purchase Yorkies that look like this are just "settling". There's no reason for this. I'm not saying that every dog is going to look like a show dog but I am saying that we should expect breeders to at least try to breed to the standard. There are guidelines in the Yorkshire Terrier Library that will help you to evaluate prospective breeders. Please read them. The puppy you get will hopefully live to around 15 yrs old. It's a long term commitment. I am happy to see you asking about the breeders ahead of time - many people don't and they soon learn the importance of it later on. And as Topknot mentioned - when you call or email the breeders on YTCA - many of them show and work full time jobs - they might not be there 24/7 and will get back with you as soon as they can. Express your interest in the breeder and her breeding practices. I know it sounds strange but don't ask about price first... good breeders want to know you're interested in the dog. Many will work with you if they know that they want their puppy to go home with you. And you'd really be surprised that most show breeders DO NOT ask for more money than you're wanting to pay. ![]() Also, most don't have but a few litters a year so you many have to wait - which IS a good thing - then you'll really get to know your breeder and be able to see your pup growing up. Good Luck and I'll keep my eye out for a breeder near you.

| ![]() Whoa - just read the Puppy Contract from the second site - NOT GOOD! Anyone who only wants to give you a replacement puppy and is not willing to cover medical bills in the case of a genetic problem when the pup could still live - I wouldn't do business with. They're counting on you wanting to keep the puppy that you've already become attached to. Sorry but I wouldn't want another puppy from that breeder if my pup had a congenital/genetic defeat. ![]() ![]() I believe that a good breeder would just want to do what's right - and that's not what I read in their contract. If they're concerned about having to cover expenses from a lot of customers --- then I would take it that they're not breeding good dogs and they know it. ![]()

| ![]() I just wanted to thank you cj125 and Ivy League for your answers. I know it's been a while but for some reason I didn't see any of your answers before. Cj125 you gave me some great information and I REALLY appreciate it. Ivy League I still haven't settled on a breeder yet so I might contact Paradise Yorkies. I have talked to her before but she didn't have any puppies at the time I contacted her. Thanks again for all your answers! |
