Yorkie Yakker | Whelp Watch My female Yorkshire Terrier is 62 or 64 days pregnant, depending on mating dates. She is normally around 8 or 9 pounds. She is expecting five puppies. Temperatures are not leveled out yet, but she refuses to eat anything. I tried wet food, dry food, roast beef, boiled chicken, deli turkey, greenies, nutrical, etc. Temps are in the 98s today. All she wants to do is lay on her side on her favorite blanket. If she gets uncomfortable she gets up and circles blanket and lays back down. She is licking her vulva more too. My breeder mentor went back home this morning. She has a business to run and help to pay. So now I get to do this alone with the help of all of the supporting people here at Yorkietalk.com As the day progresses, I will probably have questions. Thank you in advance for all of your help (just in case I get so wrapped up in the excitement that I forget to thank you right away). |

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | Sounds like she may be getting close. Good luck you will do okay. If you can Skype with her this helps. My first liter I had a experienced gal on my computer watching from her home and guiding me on what to do. We had the computer right in the whelping box. ( it was a big whelping box).

Yorkie Yakker | making a nest she is digging and laying down. Then digging some more. Giving blank stares. Her tummy is doing some weird rolling typing action too. not sure what that is. don't think it was a contraction. Had Starbucks delivered by friend for the long wait ahead. |

Yorkie Yakker | Still no puppies My daughter came home and made a bunch of ruckus. My girl got so distracted that she stopped digging, having rolly belly everything. She still refuses to eat. I took her outside and she dumped what very little poop she had in her belly. I do not know what else I should do except make everything as comfortable as possible. Her temp 97.9 and staying there. How long can she go without eating without risking the puppies and her life. She has not eaten since yesterday. |

If her temp drops any lower it is a sign of stress, I would be seriously thinking of taking her into a vet.

Yorkie Yakker | Temp 97.7 and starting to groan and dig Temp is 97.7 and she is digging again. She is starting to groan a little. Looks like a long night. Vet told me if she did not have them by morning to bring her in. After all of the books and posts I have read, I thought I was prepared for anything. I am calm for her, but I am still nervous. I guess I will be brewing some more coffee. I will keep everyone out there posted. |

Temp dropped to 96 this morning. Vet is doing IV fluids and emergency c-section. I am a nervous wreck. I will post pictures and news as soon as I get it. thanks for all of the support. |

Reading all the info out there does not prepare you for the unexpected. Books can't tell you about every emergency situation. The more I breed the more experienced and educated I become of the emergencies that affect my girl's life. Her life is in my hands....a big responsibility.

| good luck with the whelp. praying for good news and safe delivery of all the puppies. you know now that I am pregnant as a human i am starting to realize how complex a pregnancy can be. i need the dr's knowledge and have to trust my instincts but their education. it's not something that's easy and i just can't imagine taking on the responsibility of putting my little girl through a pregnancy. it's long, tiring, sometimes very miserable, and i just would rather not put her body through it. i can do it, i know my own strength and have a say in what happens. putting another life through a birth that can't talk for themselves is just not for me. if i ever did it, i'd have had YEARS AND YEARS of practice beside a mentor and wouldn't ever try it on my own until I knew I was ready and still have mentor on quick stand by |
