| Update on Autumn's babies We lost the little boy earlier this afternoon. He died with a full tummy tho. I tried to get both mommies to nurse them and the little boy just wouldn't open his mouth for a teat. He didn't want the bottle but with the slow drip he would swallow. I guess I was just too late noticing they needed help. Daddy lost his little Rosebud just a few minutes ago. We left the little boy in the tub with Autumn so she would know that he was gone and we went out for a little while. When we came back she met me at the door and wanted me to do something about him. I found Rosebud off by herself and cold. I warmed a towel up and the formula and we warmed her up but she wouldn't eat. I think the combination of being so small, losing weight and then getting chilled did the little thing in. Rosebud and the little boy were always together and sometimes away from the other two. I never saw Autumn push them away. I think they did it themselves. All 4 of these babies were travelers, right from the first few moments after they were born they were crawling around. I never saw Autumn try to separate the bigger ones from the little ones. I guess either I need to watch more closely when I have such small ones or it just wasn't meant for these two to live. Thanks to all of you who tried to help. Sylvia PS: Kim, I see the sense in what you said, it just never occured to me not to dock their tails because of their size. Sylvia |

| Yeah, I know. I just feel so bad for my husband. You know, he's a MAN and can't cry about it. I told him not to get too attached. I didn't know which ones I might keep or which ones I might sell. I just didn't watch close enough I guess. Yorkies are a whole new world to me. Sylvia |

| Oh Sylvia~ I don't know what to say ...I am so sorry because I know how hard you tried and sometimes all the effort in the world just isn't enough. I applaud you for your efforts nad I grieve with you for your loss. I only said what I did about the tails and dew claws to help someone in a similar situation in the future maybe. I just love a long tail on a yorkie and if a breeder knows the puppy will only be a pet, then I sometimes think we should maybe forego the tail docking...just a thought. I am sure it wouldn't have mattered in this case as these two were meant to be angels apparently so May they rest in peace.............little angel yorkies. |

| Thats is why its so hard to breed these tiny babies.. I'm so sorry for your lose. I'm glad that you have two that are very healthy.. And it might not have been the tail docking, you might never know what it was.

| pups I am so sorry to hear about these pups. Do not blame yourself....many vets learn things in vet school that just does not work in the real world. They have told breeders that tails must come off no later then 3 days..infact one of the vets were I used to go, refused to dock them if the pup was past 3 days. It is one of the reason my vet taught me how to do it...that way I could wait until they were at least 6 oz and sometimes in a litter that would mean 3 or 4 visits to get them all docked..so we did it at home. Also, if the tails are cut, there is enough blood loss to cause a problem for a tiny pup..clamp and twist prevents blood loss..even a 6 oz does not need to lose any blood...best wishes,a gain I am so sorry. PS...and as said before, it could have been something else and the shock of th tail docking caused them to go down. |

| Oh Sylvia, I'm just now catching up on everyone, and I am so sorry to read about this. I guess it's something that we all will have to deal with if we breed at one time or another. Please hold on to those two other little ones and cherish them because they now really are special ...
