Update on Autumn's babies We lost the little boy earlier this afternoon. He died with a full tummy tho. I tried to get both mommies to nurse them and the little boy just wouldn't open his mouth for a teat. He didn't want the bottle but with the slow drip he would swallow. I guess I was just too late noticing they needed help.
Daddy lost his little Rosebud just a few minutes ago. We left the little boy in the tub with Autumn so she would know that he was gone and we went out for a little while. When we came back she met me at the door and wanted me to do something about him. I found Rosebud off by herself and cold. I warmed a towel up and the formula and we warmed her up but she wouldn't eat. I think the combination of being so small, losing weight and then getting chilled did the little thing in. Rosebud and the little boy were always together and sometimes away from the other two. I never saw Autumn push them away. I think they did it themselves. All 4 of these babies were travelers, right from the first few moments after they were born they were crawling around. I never saw Autumn try to separate the bigger ones from the little ones. I guess either I need to watch more closely when I have such small ones or it just wasn't meant for these two to live.
Thanks to all of you who tried to help. Sylvia
PS: Kim, I see the sense in what you said, it just never occured to me not to dock their tails because of their size. Sylvia |
