Good Luck ! |
WOW I never seen anyone use YT as a mentor but theres lots todo but wait.. and Iam sure if youve read threw many of the breeders sections youve read the good, bad and ugly, I had a litter my self 11 weeks ago and while I wont go into the long storie lets just say, I only thought I was ready!!!!! Boy was I wrong... So the best advise I can give you is 1. If youve never whelped before with this breed donont take it in your own hands have a vet deliver the babies for the saftey of there lifes and mommas.. 2. but if you choose to go ahead on ur own 3.Whelping box, 4. puppy pads 5.hemostats 6.wash clothes 7.themonitor 8.k-y jelly 9. milk replacment for babies some wont nurse 10.heating pad 11.heating lamp 12.scissors 13. dental floss 14.kro syper for suger drops 15. VETS NUMBER ON SPEED DAIL Youll also need to know how to help the deliverly of these babies as they do tend to get stuck and momma cant deliver on her own, youll need to know how to remove the sack, cut the cord, clear the air wave, and how to place a non nurseing pup on the breast.. Best OF LUCK TO YOU AND MOMMA REMEMBER IF YOUR NURVOUS MOMMA IS TOO ALWAYS STAY CLAIM.. around day 55 start checking moms temp.. watch for a drop below 98.9 |

Also, you need to make sure the vet knows this Bitch carries the Gene for Blue puppies and needs to be spayed. Keep this simple and talk with Woogieman or Mardelin. You can get too overwhelmed with opinions. Lissette |
My last post in this thread. I simply want to say that if this were my pup and there was a chance of problem puppies being brought into this world, I would spay her now. Good luck to this mother and her puppies. :) |
has this bitch already delivered pups? and prego again ? I belive I read she had a blue pup or am I reading this wrong? |

Kendra owns the male who is a carrier of this gene and her friend who she is mentoring owns the Bitch is also a carrier. They mated and produced a puppy that is blue born that Kendra now owns. Her friends Bitch has become pregnant again but not sure to who. Kendra has volunteered to take the Bitch and help whelp these pups. Although I dont agree with this breeding and think all involved should be neutered and spayed, Kendra is asking for help and I feel we should direct her in the right way. Kendra, also your friend offered you one of these puppies and I strongly dissagree with everyone that encouraged you to take this free puppy. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ont-judge.html.. Like I posted before, you need to Pm Woogieman or Mardelin. |
I totally understand, Manolos Mom, but I believe that I did direct her the correct way. The world already has too many sick yorkies....and Heaven only knows there are far too many in Texas. This is so depressing. :( In the end, should she choose to not care about the welfare of the pups, then I suppose people should help for the sake of the pups. This is weeks away and it is not too late to suggest a healthier and safter alternative. Again, I need to stop reading this ... this is something I normally avoid because of my strong beliefs about the welfare of the pups. |

It also upset me to see this yorkie preg again after having a puppy or puppies with issues.. I can only hope this will be the last breeding and the bitch gets spayed and can just live life as a friend, and someones companion instead of walking around pregnant all the time. But If you cant get someone who knows how to assist the whelp please do consider having the vet deliver these babies, Iam assuming shes been to the vet? x-rays were done and the pups and her birth canal measured, Even if her last whelp was problem free these pups could be bigger, I only hope shes not pregnet again because the last pregnacy she only had the one blue pup and the owner is looking for another puppy, but not knowing who the sire is says it alot.. I pray you do take the advise on here and contact one of the good breeders here on YT to talk with you.. good luck |

I swear this is it...I am out of this one. I will pray for that poor pup and her unborn puppy(ies). These situations are what make me question a lot of things. |

I do belive I read she breed her male with the BYBER female and got the blue pup that way she did not buy the pup, It seems so strange that this mother just had this blue pup and preg again due in three weeks a back to back breeding. |
She feels the dog has a better chance with her instead of the owner. She is doing what she can to help. The female is lucky to have her. I have had three litters and my mom dog always was able to do everything herself. ( I broke the bags). And yes she is spayed now. But all my pups have gotten wonderful homes and I get pictures and updates on how they are doing. Yes there are lots of horrible things that can happen but why not help her instead of being so negative. A vet on call is always a good thing. And yes always expect the worse but I think you are doing a great favor to this dog and wish you all the best luck. I love this site and believe there is tons of great information. And lots of very strong opions which is great Got to love we can all voice them |

I derived nothing of this from the first post and have yet to hear it from the OP; but be that as it may: Again, I will pray for this mama yorkie and her unborn pups. Nothing else I can do. |

I stand by my statement, the tone of the original post is very presumptive. Perhaps there are extenutating circumstances, in which case if OP was going to reach out to any of the respected breeders here for help, you would think that would occur one on one via PM. You do not have to be here all that long to understand who has the knowledge to provide credible and helpful advice - if they choose to be involved. To assert that others should be "on call" is, IMO offensive and only reasserts the misperception that this forum and it's members somehow serve as a "vet alternative". I hope this situation has a positive outcome. |

The blue-born pup is only 7 weeks old, and his mother is already pregnant again and due in 3 weeks? Is that even possible? It's got to be a different female, not the one that produced the blue-born. |

And all thou its a big mess and some may not agree I hope she finds the confert and careing comments shes came here looking for, There are good people here who will assit, but i would PM the breeders suggested for the best info but not use YT as a vet just a support system. |

I agree with Jodi...this thing is a total mess. Why you would want to do this is beyond me. No matter what you think of the breeder, she at least knows how to whelp a litter of pups. Your easy answer is to not do this....but that doesn't look like it will happen. Short of that, the next best thing (since you feel you can take better 'care' of her) is to have the breeder come to your home at whelping time. That way, someone at least somewhat experienced is actually there. Of course, you are totally responsible for the bitch's and pups welfare and safety so you MUST be able to know when the time comes what's happening so the breeder can come over. In that regard, here's a website to help you determine that... Dog Breeding and Canine Reproduction by Debbie Jensen. Dog Breeding and Whelping guide for dog breeders. I actually feel irresponsible even posting this, but maybe it will help keep the Mama and pups from disaster....maybe not. I will say this....you are totally responsible once you take this on and if it all goes to hell, it's on you. You may be acting out of compassion, but you need to take a long hard look again at just what you're getting yourself into. |
Ok, Im here to reply...sorry it took so long. Yes, is a VERY messy situation. This female IS NOT the same fermale. This "breeder" has several yorkies. These parents are ENTIRELY different from Macs. My yorkie, Bevo, is Macs daddy and is going to be neutered. It is such a long story....... I had asked opinions earlier on bringing this female home. Yes, her owner has offered me a pup from this litter because Mac was a blue. She keeps her dogs in small crates, and lets them go at 6 weeks. I have been desperately trying to get her to change her ways, and think MAYBE I am haveing a small impact. Plz read my previous thread (im not really sure how to post the link) and you will better understand. I thought long and hard over this decision, and thought it would be in the mommas best interest to come here. I have informed my vet and will be taking her to him in two weeks time for another sonogram to make sure of the number of puppies. She has had one and they found 3. I have gathered all the supplies and do know there is a good possibility she could need a c-section. I am no way doing this for the "fun" of it nor am I getting some kick out of it. I am truly trying to help. Thank you for those that are there to support. For the others, I understand. I didnt breed this dog, and I know how many yorkies there are out there born to BYB's. She is another. I am truly just trying to help make a difference in their health by keeping her and her pups in a safe, clean envireoment where I will have control over when they leave. And it wont be 6 weeks!! |
