I didn't say that's how I priced mine, rather that line of thinking (more for girls, less for boys) is the 'norm' for my area -- so I've gathered after several years of talking to breeders, buying my Yorkie's, etc. Probably breeders capitalizing on the buyer's mentality. I've also noticed, in my area, "big dogs" (labs, etc) people seem to want boys over girls, buyer's for little dogs (Yorkie's/Chihuahua's, etc) want girls...which I would guess (in part) it's the "dress up" factor ???? The average person isn't buying to breed, just want some cute little dog to "dress up" I'm thinking so some breeders probably take advantage of that??? maybe???
But it is hard to sell your dogs (in my area) if you go outside the norm (either way: too much or too less). I know when I see a Yorkie going for 300 or so I immediately think "what's wrong with it?" Which probably isn't fair of me to think so but I do. Doesn't mean I wouldn't consider it, after all maybe they are just selling it cheap to get it placed. But I'd be checking it out thoroughly before buying.

I was speaking in generalities, not directed at you.

I never several up in the WA area who have never indicated difficulty placing pups they don't keep for show.

The pups that are selling at a lower price down here can be found but, they are usually advertised in the local Classifieds or in the Pennysaver.

Yep! It appears girls in demand for the dress-up factor or the fact that people think they are easier to train.....So, there are breeders that will capitilize on it.

I can certainly understand selling a bigger, older pup cheap...but if a breeder consistantly sells puppies for $200 something is missing..like proper vet care, quality food etc..

I am used to breeders who charge for pet and show, not sizes...and just because a Yorkie might go 8 pounds does not in anyway make them useless to a tip top breeding program...it is all about frame and structure.

A simple vet check, with stool check for a healthy pup before leaving is about $75...vaccine and food is not free...how does she afford it?

I dont know. I just seen her ad in the paper n talked to her for a cpl hrs on the phone & picked her up saturday.. Her parents are 4 & 7 lbs. The same day she placed her ad she had to cancel cuz she sold quickly. the most expensive one was $400. Idk how she does it though. Iam not a breeder..lol

May I ask if your puppy came with a paper in hand, vet check and vaccines, stool check...things done by a vet..
Many breeders give their own shots and worm, dock tails etc...but they still have each animal checked by a vet before selling?
What type/brand of food did she give you to geed your puppy?

She came with ACA Register papers. The breeder does her shot herself but she signs a Puppy Health Contract. 72hr quarantee..she gives extra days if picked up on the weekend..if the puppyy has a genetic defect it can be returned & refunded..She also gave instruction on if the puppies blood sugar gets low. She gave instructions on what kind of dog food is good for the puppy. She used Royal Canine and Eukanuba mixed. We stayed at her house for an hour and watched the puppy with the other puppies she had. She went thru all the paper work & etc. made sure we had questions to ask. Roxy (her name now) is suspose to be 8lbs. but her parents being 4 & 7lbs i dont think she will get 8 lbs. She is 10 weeks old.
