Start gathering supplies, contact your vet. Get her in for another x-ray |
woudnt x rays be bad at this point |

since you are still refering to her as a puppy, most definately get her xrayed asap... whe you took her before, the bones may not have calsified yet, meaning they wouldnt show up- but your vet should have known this and told you. i take it you have no idea what the father/fathers would be? this is something that the vet needs to check out- it may be a c-section situation. |
From her post, she seems to know that day 63 is coming up quickly. Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that she knew who the father(s) potentially are since the mating would have been known about. |

to op- basically go along with all you had learned and prepared etc, prior to being told it was a phantom, 'simple' as that really. and let the sires owner and your mentor know asap to, as i'm sure you wouldnt be comfortable being the hands-on whelper... didnt someone post here before about a girl they could have sworn was pregnant, but there was literally nothing there- and they could see movement to? |

I agree with all of the above.. especially when Bellemarie said your vet should have known that puppies would not show up on an xray if it is done before a certain date. and if he did not know that, I would take her to a vet that knows more about gestation in dogs |
what had happned was that i had went on vacation and she went into heat my mom has a yorkie so when i got back we suspected that she might have bin pregnant becuse of her behiviour so we took her to our vet we did a xray 2 weeks ago and their was nothing so according to him she was not.. by my calculation from the time i got from vacation friday coming will be 63 days when he took the x ray he did the time line to and he said that we would be able to see the skeletons....but we saw nothing i did not want her to have any puppies becuse she only 1 year old we are not prepared for any of this thats why im freeking out .... |
Bones don't calcify until about day 51. Before that time, there isn't enough ossification for the bones to show up clearly on an xray. Do you have any idea what breed the sire might be if she is whelping? She's young, was this her first heat cycle? If you have any concerns, then it's up to you to take her back to the vet for another examination and xray. |
its a morkie that she got pregnant by and this is her second heat cycle |
i would like to think that the vet knows about ossification if not he has no right to even be in buisness |
Are you certain that the movement was puppies that you felt and not her? I have a little girl here with me that is pregnant and I took her to the vet since she looked like she was and he was not able to feel any puppies. Told us to wait and then I felt movement and called him the next day. We took her in for an xray and it showed 4 puppies. I would get her in and soon. The more you know the better you will be prepared. I have been doing nothing but reading every thing I could find on labor and delivery for this dog. I have found some wonderful people here that help answer the questions that I have and help keep me sane while we wait for puppies to come with no idea of when she is due. There are also a lot of puppie births on youtube that are really good and some even show when a puppy is in trouble. My thought is better to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Keep us posted. Can't wait to see what you find out. |
Two different doctors examined her and said there were no puppies there....how could they miss something like this......wouldn't this be malpractice????? |
