Someone has asked for help in the "Sick and Injured" section about a runt puppy not eating (yesterday), not one person has posted to help them with their baby.

I guess it is more important to continue with all the bashing and argueing going on in this post, good gosh isn't 4/5 pages enough to beat someone up when they are already down. Leave her alone, she's human and made a mistake.

No one answered mine either. Since you're here now and you are one that has said it a few times...."there are those that care and those that make money from their Yorkies", maybe you will answer my question.

Well Tammy I will answer your question I dont think you are breeding just because you want to make money. I think you are breeding because you love partis and want to encourage the growth of the partis lineage. I never get involved with parti or biewer threads because One I dont understand enough also even though I believe in the yorkie standard I feel p[artis and biewers both have thir place in yorkie ancestory. It Just hasnt been accepted by the parent club yet but who knows what the future holds for partis and biewers

I don't really care if you are talking about me or not. I was point-blank asking what do you feel about the ethics of the buyer? You can't have it both ways.

Thank you for writing this. As for breeding...I bred Livi twice and now she is scheduled to be spayed this month. My heart is not in it and I have been led to help with rescues.

Should ALL ads be off limits here at YT? The original ad she was sent had a lot of the red flags that we REPEATEDLY tell buyers to be on the look out for:

Puppy Find
Sick breeder
Under aged pup up for sale (yes, she said Deposit for Hold, but we have all seen that this time of year means "I'll hold till Christmas"
Limited registration unless she's "comfortable with other arrangements"

Sorry, but I stand behind my belief that you wouldn't all be getting up in arms if it were someone other than a YT member. A double standard exists here. It's fine to call out questionable practices on someone, unless they are a member. Than we are all supposed to stand by and say "Oh, it's OK..."

Since the ad didn't give a name, much less a YT screen name, there was no way she could have knowingly "singled out" a particular poster. And if you truly believe that YT members should be exempt from having a questionable practice pointed out, then you haven't read very many of the "for sale" ads here lately.

I'm assuming you mean this quote? I don't think anyone questions the buyers' ethics, why are you bringing that up? birds of a feather quote means all the same types of breeders always stick together, whatever type of breeder they are.

Most buyers who buy from the worst breeders most of the time are uneducated about bybs and/or puppymills. (general statement, don't anyone twist my words to look like I said Tammy was the worst breeder) I think they are just that uneducated, not unethical. However, since you asked, you want to know what me or others think of your buyers? I think that is a loaded question bc of the fact you breed partis (biewers too? I'm not sure, but your avatar says parti time, so obviously you breed partis.) Are you trying to get the parti discussion out again? Questioning the buyers who want partis or off standard colors? I don't know what you charge, but I see partis and off colors go for much more than yorkies within standard. People like to have something "rare" and don't care if it's not within standard or not. this makes me believe they are willing to pay more. Now a breeder who breeds off colors I'm sure knows this too, will they still sell below what the market will bear bc they think they are a reputable breeder as to try to not make money off their hobby?

Another question, I guess this can be to all breeders who breed not standard colors? why do you breed? I think it's fair to say that we will not see the AKC change their stance on the off colors in our lifetime, so why do it? For the future of the yorkie breed? perhaps sometime in the future they may or may not include the off colors? Make me understand, i am from the standpoint of someone who works with rescue, so make me understand why you breed.

I feel that entire thread just got out of control. Megansmama had every right to question the ad by the way it was written. Sugars Mom came on - read the thread, made the corrections - mentioned that she had been ill. A "Thanks for bringing it to my attention" and an "I'm sorry your sick" was all that was needed.
I know her ad said "Limited registration" unless she is very comfortable doing otherwise. I for one think it's very hard to know what exactly was meant by that. I would assume that if I wanted to adopt it would definately be "Limited", however maybe if someone she knew as a "reputable" breeder were interested, it may be different - and maybe a "reputable breeder" wouldn't be interested in this puppy - I'm just sayin'. It's been posted that back in July Sugars Mom was having financial problem - one would have to wonder if all the needed tests been done on this baby? I'm not a breeder but I'm sure that those who are have several questions about this puppy being offered at this age as a possible addition to a program.

The thread read less than compassionate - and I do feel sorry for Dee for that - and at first I kept thinking "why are they giving her such a hard time, after all - she's a long time YT member" I felt she needed to be given the benefit of the doubt. But if there is one thing I've learned on here - the length of time you are a member means nothing. It's the name you've made for yourself while you've been here. The number of posts you have as impressive as the numbers look - mean nothing - It's then information that you put out there for others. I have over 1000 posts and have been here nearly a year - and I don't know squat about how to help someone with a sick puppy, or breeding. But I've learned how to look for a reputable breeder, how to address my babys aggression, and how to "try" to potty train. I've learned from the passionate members on here that often times there are things going on "beind the scenes" that I don't know about - so I've chosen to not comment (much). My favorite prayer:

It's the holiday season - we need to show some compassion for those that are sick - or have family members that are ill - understanding for those trying to look out for the babies out there that may be in bad situations, and sympathy for those who have recently lost babies...some to the "Rainbow Bridge" and others just don't know. There are people out there who would really appreciate the time spent on kind words rather than the time spent bashing each other. Better to go offer a hug to someone than to point a finger.

Oh yes Megansmomma is a real savior of animals...and not just yorkies. She has assisted YT members too who have found themselves in a bind. Even people who are hates of Jodi seem to contact her when they find themselves in need...and she goes, no questions asked.

The same is true of LadyJane - just last week she pulled a little cutie out of a kill shelter who was found roaming the streets of Houston. She has also reunited families with their lost yorkies.

The problem with this isn't megansmomma -- it's Sugar's Mom who posted a for sale ad of a 5-week old puppy that as JeannieK pointed out didnt even have teeth yet! And Jodi never even mentioned Sugar's Mom, it was Sugar's mom who came on here and gave her own confession. But when I started reading her history and learning what she did to Renee, I think that it is a good thing that Sugar's Mom came on here and blew off her own foot because BUYER BEWARE!!

It's hard to trust anyone these days. I'm glad this issue came up. I'm sorry that Megansmomma is being crucified for it, but I'm glad she saved her friend from buying this puppy!

See my post above. What do you mean I can't have it both ways? the buyer is the buyer, not the breeder. unless you sell your puppies on full registration?

I bred Livi because I adore the parti color...I can only assume would be the same reason that Jencar, Wyliesmom and Sherrinkassie purchased from me. Did you rescue your Yorkies that you currently own? I think this is a very noble cause.

It wasn't untill after Dee outed herself that jeannie switched sides. and that is what i meant by birds of a feather.

I don't think anyone is questioning whether or not Dee is really sick or not. We are just saying that is a common ploy bad breeders will use to get rid of a puppy quick.

If Dee is so sick, how can she properly interview people to see who would be the best family for this little pup? Why put up the ad now? Why not wait until she was feeling a bit better, seeing as how the pup will not be allowed to leave untill 12 weeks anyway, almost 2 more months?

That is fantastic Tammy. I wish more people would do more for rescues....they really need as much help as they can get.

I mean that you can't question the ethics of a breeder and not the buyer as well. The majority of the members here have purchased their Yorkies and some have bred. Whatever the justifcation is....want a puppy, love this breed, enjoy showing, love raising puppies. It doesn't matter what the reason is! I have done both....purchased and bred. I think that instead of attacking each other, we should be encouraging one another to rescue or to be involved in local shelters. There are plenty of Yorkies (or Yorkie mixes) that need homes and, if not found, they will be put to sleep. I wish that people would stop with the attacking tone and realize that it gets you no where.

I went to the site and read Dee's ad...it says the pup is not ready to leave until 12 weeks...that is aceptable among YTCA and regional clubs...what has she done unethical? I'm confused as usual.

Quite frankly, no one has the right to tell anyone when they can place their pups..you can educate those who do not know how unwise it is to place before 12 weeks..but if it is legal to sell at 6 or 8 weeks in their county, you just have to get used to people who do not see things they way you do.
I perfer 14 to 16, but that is what works for me...

Cathy~ I am ashamed and so incredibly sad that it took me falling in love with a Sheperd mix that we had visited a few times at our shelter for me to see what "should" be done. My husband and I went to see about possibly adopting her last Tuesday only to be told that she had been put to sleep the day before.

Can we please all stop attacking....even if we think that we are right. Passion is fine...conviction is fine, but direct it in a proper way.

That was the reason why a family that had yorkies I looked at years ago said that that they love the yorkie breed, just as you say you love the parti color. They bred their bitch, all gold and 10 lbs, to their male, who they constantly studded out, had 7 puppies and were selling them for around $1500. Can't say i that would say they were doing anything to improve the breed.

Buyers who buy partis also like the different color, however sometimes the colors comes out on accident anyway from a breeder who is not specifically looking to get this result.

this is another questions that I've been wondering. Parti and biewer owners, how often do people ask you what breed your dog is and then when you say yorkie they ask what it's mixed with or get the "that's a yorkie?" comment. I get people asking me what Uni is mixed with bc she is so big :rolleyes:. I get annoyed already, can't imagine how you guys feel, or maybe it's just me. Although beautiful, i don't think partis and biewers look like yorkies, but that's just my opinion. I even look in their eyes and I don't see it, the color just throws me way off.

I did not rescue Uni, I bought her from not a reputable person. Then i found YT. I feel I am trying to right my own wrong by working with rescue. i am trying to get people to stop from making the same mistake I did.

I like YT the way it is. I like what I learn about from the really good breeders. I like that hypocrisy is called out. This isn't a "good ole girls" club- it's a site to educate buyers about the good and the bad out there.

Since you are asking parti owners, I will answer. I have never, not once, had anyone ask me what Livi is mixed with...NOT ONE SINGLE TIME. In fact, when I picked her up from the airport as a baby she still had folded ears. I had 5 ladies (2 seperate groups) come over to me and tell me how much they love Yorkies and that they had one themselves. When she goes on errands with us, people again, say the same type of thing. I have even had people tell me, "She's the cutest Yorkie that I have seen!". I have never even had anyone say a thing about her coloring...other than the vet clinic.

I will answer you about Biewers, when asked I don't say they are yorkies at all. I tell them what they are mixed with. I call my Biewers not Biewer Yorkies.

I will answer this even though we're going a little OT. I have to correct you just slightly, Tammy♥. Before getting to know you and seeing Livi, then her babies, I wasn't necessarily a fan of most partis, biewers or any off colors. What I did was only as recommended by a show breeder here on YT....I "bought" my breeder first.....YOU♥ It was obvious to me the love and devotion you have for your kids, it's not fake but is the most genuine of any breeder I've ever known. I know the reasons you bred Livi and only wish others bred for the same reasons....if that could ever happen I think the need for rescues would be minimal at best. I am honored and proud to be a friend of yours and had you decided to continue to breed, would not have hesitated to recommend you as a breeder. I know I have one of the most adorable, spirited, lovable parti yorkie boys in the world and I wouldn't take a million for him!!
