| X-rays can be performed at an early age to give you initial indication of hip dysplasia and LCP....However, it doesn't replace OFA. The fact that your dog may not have the affliction doesn't guarantee that it doesn't run in the line. The first indication would of these afflictions would be leg lifting or leg dangling.....Hip Dysplasia is a bit more difficult to diagnose on a visual. As far as sedation, it depends on how proficent your vet is. I've not had any of mine to be sedated.
