I totally agree: all puppies are adorable, but that doesn't mean that they should be allowed to reproduce. In my opinion, there are many, many crossbreeds in rescues everywhere and if you don't breed to standard (and show your dogs), then you shouldn't breed. Breeding isn't something you do because your dogs are cute. Breeding starts with purposely searching for the best breeding stock you can afford. If you aren't prepared to do that, then you aren't prepared for the hassle of breeding. JMHO.

Blonde Yorkies are pretty, but that doesn't mean that they should be bred. I have a very, very light male who is gorgeous, but he will never be bred because the light coat is a fault. Many will disagree with me, but I'm a purist and I love the traditional Yorkie look... why breed for something else?

they are not standard but they are beautiful. I have a 5 yr old yorkie that was blue and gold that is now turning all gold

Judging from the head on the gold yorkie in the thumbnails, I'd doubt it's purebred.

i think the thumbnails looks purebred and cute

just like with traditionals sometimes they are larger here or there, big ears, tall legs, wide nose, short nose...doesnt make them mixed

i havent read where there are any health defects connected with the different colors..all it is, is a change in pigmentation.. it doesn't make them unhealthy..it may not be a desire trait for the akc traditionalist but some people like something a little different.

i would love a gold or blonde or parti, to go with my traditional they are all beautiful and desirable.

If someone is looking for diversity, all they have to do is visit their local animal shelter and rescues. They will find diversity.

Sorry. In this case you are wrong. The Dam is from a line that I have bred for a few years and have had the Great Grandmother. If there is a mix down the line it is way, way back. The Sire is from a line that I have had 12 years and purchased the Grandfather from "Show" Stock. So, obviously the "Show Stock" had the recessive gene.

Because a lot of people dont consider it a fault and love the look of the golden yorkie.
After all the YTCA rules and standards were written by people and opinions and likes and dislikes change. Changes can be good as long as they are healty and happy. My oldest golden is now 11 yrs old and has had no faults other than an ear infection. These dogs are as healthy as my traditionals.

I totally agree. There are 2 words I dont use as a breeder, "Teacup" and "Rare"

I dont use the word rare, I dont agree with using it, but to call someone dishonest because they use it, is not right either.
The definition of rare is: not widely known; not widely distributed, marked by an uncommon quality.
Now why is that word considered dishonest?

Rare also connotes of high value or unusually great or excellent. Since the AKC and YTCA both consider anything other than the standard coloring a fault, an "off color" Yorkie wouldn't fit in to that category. For me, it would fall in to the same category as someone purposely breeding the apple-headed yorkies and calling them rare as a marketing ploy. Again, that's my opinion. I don't expect anyone to agree with it.

there may be diversity in the shelter but i think it would be "rare" to find a golden yorkie in there =)
