Congratulations on the pups.

Inbreeding does not always result in health issues. But, to insure that these pups are of good health and some genetic problem was not passed down to them. My suggestion is to have all the necessary tests peformed on them at the appropriate ages. Reading through your thread informs me that you did not make your decision without tremendous thought. So, I know that you are the type of person that will take all the necessary steps to insure that these pups have the best care possible.

Thank you to all! They are very precious and yes ,y hands are full. The little girl whom was the first born was only 90 grams and her weight did fluctuate a bit up and down however i am happy to announce that she is now 102 grams since around 12 this afternoon. So I am very pleased so far. Treasure is doing awesome as a new mommy and everything so far is well. As for the tail docking no way! I did not have their tails docked so soon lol. I was told around 3 days old no later than 5 days but ok on the 2nd day. So they will be getting their tails docked and dew claws removed tomorrow.

Thank you Mardelin for your kind words and yes I am prepared to do whatever necessary tests that will be needed for my lil furbabies, so please let me know of the ones that i would need to get done just in case it isnt brought to my attention by their vet although the vet is really good and I do not think vet would foget and disregard those tests considering the situation. At the same note, I have found out that both the parents of my Treasure and Maximus are akc registered I am working on it now with the previous owners of my babies to get them registered. They need to contact the breeder that they used the stud service done. I have also made it clear that I would also like the name of breeder they went to and bought their mother from which was the same breeder that they went for the stud service. So I was also happy to hear that they actually came from a champion bloodline....Now, just need to get all the necessary documents and proof needed and get my babies registered. Previous owner explained to me that the breeder was charging her an extra $500 on top of the cost for stud service! Is that the same way some of you breeders work as well??? I think that was crazy, but at the end, they ended up not paying the extra $500 for the papers and that is why they were never registered to begin with. So, I guess this would be good news especially once I find out that breeder is indeed a reputable breeder.. Well lets hope all of that turns well and all is good. thanks again to all! Several tests will need to be performed. Bile Acids at 16 weeks and 6 months of age. CERFs & OFA; these have different ages that they'll need to be performed. OFA at 2 years to be valid. So, you'll need to monitor your pups very carefully. However, your vet can keep an eye on their growth patterns; checking their knees and hips. There are other hidden problems that can occur as in all pups. Kidney's, heart, etc and other things that can show up as they get older, but this can show up in any breeding, not because these pups are inbred.

$500.00 on top of a stud fee for registration. Not at all something we do charging for AKC papers. What we do is set two different prices; one for pet quality pups (this is limited registration and one for show quality pups (this is an open registration). Their is never a charge for the AKC papers. What we do have is a contract and each contract is dependent on the dog.

If the puppies are to be spayed and neutered and the pregnancy was unwanted etc. Why would anyone register a liter that someone is saying that they "think" is responsible for conception. You have no idea if its an true sire and you would be signing a documentation on hearsay for what reason?


I'm asking these questions b/c you you've made this something I care about by asking how we feel about it. This breed has different places of importance to everyone. THE FUTURE OF IT HOLD GREAT MEANING TO MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS. WOULD YOU PLEASE SAY SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE ME FEEL BETTER ABOUT THIS?

I thiknk the OP is asking for direction from more experienced people. If that is the case I think in order for us to provide it we need a bit more clarification.

That being said, if there is any question on parentage, DNA testing should be conducted on dam/sire and pups. This would definately clear up any question of said parentage. DNA would definately insure that the pups are being registered legitimately. I do believe the OP is wanting to leave no rock unturned and to proceed on the up and up.

Yes, Mardelin couldnt have said it any better and Elle, fyi I didnt mean the puppies of my Treasure and Maximus I was talking about registering my Treasure and Maximus. This indeed was an accidental litter not that i need to justify my doings to anyone but I do not feel that my decisions were irresponsible but we all will have our opinions on that now wont we? lol but yes, as i said Mardelin couldnt have said it better. Registering your Treasure and Maximus is your first order of business. I hope you don't encounter road blocks there. But, be prepared for it though. Getting their pups registered may take some time, so be prepared for some leg work and possibly some extra monetary fees.
