![]() Realizing you did not ask for advice, this is for anyone that could stumble on this post. It is not recommended to allow any other dogs, including the sire near puppies. It's stressful to the dam. She needs her privacy. Mom needs to be put away from the other dogs with her puppies. ALL DOGS, EVERY DOGS, EXCEPT FOR HER PUPPIES. Just as daddy doesn't bring her meals, they are canines. They are not humans. The dam has a strong desire to care for her puppies, she needs to know there won't be any distractions. This is very important. Other dogs should be in the same room together for any reason for more than a month from now. These are your puppies, do as you chose. I'm posting this for anyone that reads this.

![]() I am always thankful for any advice givin on any subject but as with all dogs they are all different maggie and Oscar are very close and if I try to put them in different rooms they lie at the doors and bark and cry to get back to each other maggie is protective of her puppies but she is also very protective of Oscar for whatever reason I don't know! It's just the way they are I find with her she gets far more stressed out if you take Oscar away from her, when o did that at the beginning she would not eat when I brought him back she was so excited she stuffed herself so I think in my case it is better for her and the health of her pups that I leave them to it, if I thought for any reason maggie would do better any other way I would, they are lovely dogs and I love them very much and would do nothing to hurt or stress them in any way, thankyou for your advice ![]()

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Im sorry I know nothing about breeding but can I ask a question and make a suggestion? Does the sire have to be seperated completley from the mother and pups or just far enough to give her some space? How about a play pen or a saftey gate? this way Maggie and Oscar could still see each other but Maggie and the pups would have some space? I dont know if this would work just a suggestion ![]()

![]() We took a trip to the vet with maggie and her pups just to make sure all was ok I explained to the vet about keeping Oscar away and that she won't eat if I do and the fact that I have even tried a baby gate he said if she's happy leave them be the pups are huge and need her to eat as much as possible they weigh nearly a kilo each now and they're only 14 days old his suggestion was to feed her all I can he couldn't believe the size of them he said they were very healthy and she was great so thanks for everyones suggestions but I think I'll do it my way it's the best thing for my dogs

It's important to do so so that the pups don't deplete the MOm. The recipe is here on the breeding site. Also I see that she had a litter late fall in 2009. And now one in Aug 2010. She will come into heat again, anywhere from 6-8 mths from now. It is a very good idea to not breed every heat. I hope the Mom and pups do well. Good luck with your litter.

![]() Fortunately one of the first things I did was get the recipe's for the whelping pudding and the fading puppy one too just in case I laso give her chicken, liver, ham just about anything she wants she is doing great a real chub lol but I love her she's so cute and the pups are great more active and trying to walk about more they can really move when they want to, as for breeding her again I don't know if I ever will and certainly not on her next heat what i have noticed is she is dragging herself along the floor she was wormed 3 days ago but still doing it ! Any ideas? I would like to get this sorted asap ad I don't like to think of anything bothering her she has quite enough to deal with, thanks.
